Deep in the frest,my husband and I had climbing ver and crawling under the dwned trees that blcked the dirt path befre us.It was May,yet we walked up a snw-cvered hill.When we nticed ur jeans were wet up t ur knees,it did nt dampen ur spirits.Nt nce did we say,“Let’s turn arund.” This was ur vacatin,and we were n an adventure.Little did we knw this was the beginning f many mre surprises.
The trail was marked as an easy ne-kilmeter hike,yet we were already walking a lng distance.Our lightheartedness stpped when we came ut int a clearing and saw a parking lt withut ur rental car in it.As my eyes scanned the surrundings,nthing lked familiar.My heart raced.I realized we were lst in a natinal park that did nt fficially pen fr anther week.
Usually,I am the calm ne in the relatinship,but my husband surprised me with his calmness.This did nt cmfrt me.In fact,it heightened my fear.As we walked,I asked my husband t call fr help,but there was n cell-phne signal in this islated (偏僻的) area.
It was awfully quiet except fr ur ftsteps hitting the rad,and my heavy breathing.My husband suggested we cnserve energy and walk slwer.With each step n the rad,my feet and thighs hurt while my mind raced with thughts abut peple wh gt lst in the Canadian wds fr days.
My visin sharpened.I nticed everything arund me:the trees,rcks and snw.I thught we culd eat the snw n the grund in case we needed water.Fr the first time in my life,I was ready and willing t get a ride,but we did nt meet with a single car n the rad.Silently,I prayed multiple times.We fcused n each ther,made jint decisins and cnnected thrugh gratitude.We managed t stay n the main rad and walked straight n.
