Parks, wh als wrte fictin and was a gifted cmpser, died at his hme in New Yrk, accrding t a frmer wife, and a nephew Charles Parks.
“Nthing came easy,” Parks wrte in his autbigraphy（自传）.“I was just brn with a need t explre every tl shp f my mind, and with lng searching and hard wrk, I became devted t my restlessness. ” He cvered everything frm fashin t plitics t sprts at Life frm 1948 t 1968. But as a phtgrapher, he was perhaps best knwn fr his pht essays n the effects f pverty in the United States and abrad and n the spirit f the civil rights mvement.
He went thrugh a series f jbs as a teen and yung man, including the pian player and railrad dining car waiter. The breakthrugh came when he was abut 25, when he bught a used camera in a pawnshp （当铺） fr ＄7.50. He became a freelance （自由职业的） fashin phtgrapher, went n t Vgue magazine and then t Life in 1948.“Reflecting nw, I realize that, even within the limits f my childhd visin, I was n a search fr pride, meanwhile taking
measurable glimpses f hw certain blacks, wh suffered frm racism, were against it,” he wrte. When he accepted an award frm Wichita State University in May 1991, he said it was “anther step frward in my making peace with Kansas and Kansas making peace with me.”
