    By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:

    1. Understand some important qualities of literature and taste its wonder.

    2. Learn to use the words and expressions on the blackboard.

    3. Mater the usage of some important sentences and patterns.

    教学重点:

    Learn to use some words and expressions: determine, significant, attempt, on the point of doing, devote…to.

    教学难点:

    How to use the above words and expressions in new situations and arouse the students’ interest of reading literature. 

    教学过程 

    Step 1 课本回眸

    Task 1 Fill in the blanks.

    Passage One

    【同义词辨析】attempt, try, manage

    (1)  attempt正式用语, 常指一次的而不是继续的尝试, 往往暗示这种尝试达不到目的, 常包含冒险之意。

    (2)  try通俗用语, 指为成功做某事而付出努力或花费一定代价, 后接不定式表示试图做某事”, 后接动词-ing形式表试着做某事

    (3)  manage成功地做成某事, 尤指困难的事,强调结果。
