( Exercise 1 on page 14)(1) What kind of novel is Tolkien famous for?(2) Have you ever read any of Tolkien’s books or seen any of the films based on them? What do you think of them?(3) What else do you know about Tolkien? Find out more about him and share your research with the class.Students work in groups of 4 to discuss the questions.Teacher asks students to share their answers.3’PredictionTeacher asks students to look at the pictures and the title on pages 14 & 15 to predict what Letters from Father Christmas is about and why Tolkien wrote these letters. ( Exercise 2 on page 14)Students talk about their predictions. 8’ Reading for general idea Teacher asks students to read the passage quickly to check their predictions.Teacher asks students to share their answers.Teacher asks students to read the passage quickly again and choose the sentence that best explains the title of the passage and find out the clues in the text.
