Sentence Patterns
as引导非限制性定语从句
(教材P2) As a song in Ugly Betty puts it,“It's a pretty person's world”.

句式分析:as a song in Ugly Betty puts it 是非限制性定语从句,as 代替整个主句的内容。as 引导非限制性定语从句时放在主句前后均可,意为“正如”,后边的谓语动词多是see,know,expect,say,mention,report等。

[名师点津] which引导的非限制性定语从句也可以指代整个主句,但不能位于主句之前。

(教材P3) That's why I could never understand my sister,who has 17 lipsticks and can't decide which one to use every morning.
这就是为什么我永远无法理解我姐姐,她有17支口红,每天早上都不知道该用哪支好。
句式分析:本句中That's why ...意为“那就是……的原因,这就是为什么……”;why引导表语从句,表示结果。
