72 Hours in Beijing
Travelling to China is no longer a luxury for many foreign passport holders. The Chinese government has permitted a 72-hour visa-free policy that offers access to visitors from 53 countries including the US, France and Austria. Let's start with the capital of China, Beijing. Here's a pick of the best in Beijing!
Mutianyu Great Wall
Your trip to Beijing isn't really complete without seeing one of the "New Seven Wonders of the World"--the Great Wall of China. The Mutianyu section of the Great Wall is by far the most well-preserved of all. Taking a one-hour bus ride, Mutianyu would be your ideal location for a half-day of hiking away from the large crowds in the city. Also, the authorities have allowed tourists to paint graffiti on a specific section of the Great Wall since 2014. The Great Wall was designated a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site in 1987.
798 Art Zone
This would be on the top of my list! Named after the 798 Factory that was built in the 1950s, the art zone is home to various galleries, design studios, art exhibition spaces, fashionable shops and bars. You could easily spend half your day wandering around the complex, feeling the contrast of the present and the past.
The Summer Palace
Located in northwestern Beijing, the Summer Palace is by far the city's most well-preserved royal park. With its huge lake and hilltop views, the place offers you a pastoral escape into the landscape of traditional Chinese paintings. The Summer Palace was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1998.
Sichuan Provincial Restaurant
While in Beijing, apart from trying the city's best-known Peking duck, the Sichuan Provincial Restaurant is one of the places where you can enjoy regional delicious food. It offers one of China's eight great cuisines, Sichuan Cuisine, which ranges from Mapo tofu to spicy chicken.

Government in Tibet have denied the permanent(永久的) closure of Mount Qomolangma National Nature Reserve.
The announcement came after a report went viral online claiming the base camp of the world's highest mountain was "permanently closed due to heavy pollution" and caused a universal misunderstanding.
Mount Qomolangma National Nature Reserve was set up in 1988. Covering an area of more than 33, 800 square km, it is home to one of the world's weakest ecosystems.
Kelsang, deputy director of the reserve administration, said ordinary tourists are allowed to visit areas around Rongpo Monastery, almost 5,000 meters above sea level. As for travelers who have a climbing permit, they can go to the base camp at an altitude of 5,200 meters. The mountaineering activities have been permitted by the regional forestry department.
To protect the environment surrounding Mount Qomolangma, China carried out three major clean-ups at an altitude of 5,200 meters and above last spring, collecting eight tonnes of household wastes, human wastes and mountaineering trash. This year, the cleanup will continue, and the remains of mountaineering victims(受害者) at above 8,000 meters will be centrally dealt with for the first time. Meanwhile, the number of people who stay at the base camp will be kept under 300.
Recently, there are 85 wildlife protectors in the reserve, and 1,000 herders have part-time jobs going around and cleaning up garbage.
These measures aim to strike a balance between various demands such as environmental protection, local poverty relief, mountaineering and education, said Wang Shen, county chief of Dingri at the mountain foot.资*源%库 ziyuanku.com

Raegan Byrd tries to complete her homework every night. But the high school student in Hartford, Connecticut, has to use her mobile phone to search for the necessary information because she does not have an Internet connection at home.
In May, the US Department of Education(DOE) published its findings that the number of homes without access to the Internet has been getting smaller, but 14 percent of homes in city areas and 18 percent of homes in the countryside still do not have Internet connections.
In some states, the problem is much more serious. For example, in the countryside of northern Mississippi, a third of the 294 homes in Maben do not have computers. And close to half have no access to the Internet whether they can pay for it or not.
Sharon Stidham, a mother in Maben, has to take her four boys to the school library at East Webster High School. Her husband works there, so the children can use the Internet for their schoolwork. A signal tower can be seen through the trees from their home, but they could not put aside any money for the Internet.
Research results from the National Center for Education(NCE) have shown that students with the Internet at home get much better scores in reading, math and science than those without.
Some teachers call this problem "the homework divide". Jessica Rosenworcel, an NCE member, said, "The so-called homework divide is the cruelest part of the digital age and it is hurting the poor students and creating a big obstacle to their dreams."
Local communities have started to help. They made lists of restaurants and other businesses with Wi-Fi places where children are welcome to come and do their homework. And many public libraries have also started to provide free access to the students.
1.What has DOE found out in its survey?
A.Students with the Internet at home are doing better at school.
B.4% more homes in the countryside don't have Internet connections.
C.About 33% of the students in Mississippi do not have the Internet at home.
D.An increasing number of students do not have access to the Internet at home.
2.Why does Sharon Stidham take her sons to the school library at East Webster High School?
A.Her husband is a teacher in the library.
B.She does not want to pay for the Internet at home.
C.She wants her sons to study in a better environment.
D.Her sons have to use the Internet to do their schoolwork.
3.Which of the following can best replace the underlined word "obstacle" in Paragraph 6?
A.Block. B.Help. C.Goal. D.Chance.
4.What is the main idea of the last paragraph?
A.Local communities are called on to take actions.
B.Libraries have opened their doors to the students.
C.Restaurants have volunteered to take in the children.
D.Help is coming from local communities and many public libraries. Ziyuanku.com

It was the middle of the day with bright sun, blue sky, green grass, and a soft breeze(微风). It was a great day to play outside and the best day of my life because I got a new ball and a new bike as my sixth birthday presents, and I was visiting my cousin, Kristy, at her house.
"Here I go!" shouted David while kicking my new ball. David lived next door and was older than me. I thought he was a wild child, but he was actually very kind. The ball went flying as if it were going to space. "That was so high!" Kristy said in surprise and we went after the ball. We all had a great time.
Later we had supper and the food my aunt made was good. While Kristy was helping do the dishes, David and I ran outside to play. We started taking turns riding my bike. David suggested that we ride it to the forest. And I agreed. David and I got on the bike and David started going fast.
As we rode through the forest, I felt the wind brushing my face. It felt so great and free. Suddenly the bike hit a fallen branch and we went flying off the bike. Lying on the ground, I felt dizzy(眩晕). I checked myself for injuries and saw some but they didn't bother me.
"David!" I shouted out loudly and anxiously.
"Hey," said a voice. I turned my head and it was David, who was standing behind me, holding my broken bike. At the sight of my disabled bike, I was so sad that I couldn't hold back my tears. It took David some time to calm me down.

Logos are part of this image"承上启下,指标志是企业形象的组成部分,那空处就应该是对"logo"一词的解释。
The logos of large international companies are instantly recognizable throughout the world"可知,大型国际公司的标志在全世界范围内都能被一眼认出来;紧接着以可口可乐公司的标志为例,由此可知,选项A符合语境。

The founders of OneClass began the site 可知,这是一个网站(website)。故选D项。
4.根据前文中的 "I accidentally saw an article published by OneClass about difficult class,"Silvera says. 和空后的 to become a note-taker and I tried 可知,西尔韦拉偶然看到网站上发表的文章,知道有机会(chance)成为一个记笔记的人,并进行了尝试, a chance to do sth 为固定搭配,意为“做某事的机会”,与后面的 I tried 相呼应。
故选A项。
the number of 为固定搭配,意为 “…… 故选A项。

第二节
答案:whose; finest; be chosen; curiosity; When/ As; pointed; to find; gently; surrounding; on
set out to do sth是固定搭配,意为“出发去做某事”。
In, order to make students get a rest from study, our school organized an outing in the park on Sep. 2.
We got to the park where we were free to walk around and enjoy the amazing scenery. The scenery there was so breathtaking that it helped us relax a lot. After that, we played games, told stories, and sang our favorite songs and some students even danced for us. It was lunch time soon before we realized it. We took out our prepared food and had a happy picnic. Finally, it was time for us to return to our school.
This activity not only offered us a chance to get close to nature, but also brought us closer to each other.
第二节
答案:
Paragraph 1:
When we realized it was time to walk home, we found ourselves lost. It was getting darker and darker. I felt so scared that tears rolled down my face again. David attempted to comfort me. He told me that he once made some marks on the trees in the forest, which might help us find the way home. Therefore, we made efforts to look for the marks but in vain. Having walked anxiously for about an hour in the forest, we failed to find our way out.
Paragraph 2:
It was completely dark when we saw fireworks (烟花) being set off in the distance. We ran excitedly in that direction as fast as possible. Soon we found my aunt's house, in front of which my cousin Kristy was holding some fireworks and lighting them. Seeing us back safe, Kristy cheerfully hugged us. She told us that when noticing we had been away for long, she was concerned about our safety. She set off fireworks to draw our attention and guide us. It was an unforgettable experience. Without David's comfort and Kristy's fireworks, I would have been lost in the forest forever.
