Vilence (暴力) at schls has been widely reprted in recent years. Hitting, slapping (打耳光) and burning thers with cigarettes-the vilence amng teenagers has drawn public and gvernment attentin. On Nv 11, the gvernment published a guideline (指导意见) n dealing with schl vilence.
The guideline stressed that students with serius behaviur prblems shuld be taken t special schls. Or, in mre serius cases, they may take criminal respnsibility (刑事责任) and be sent t prisn.
China has lng been cnsidered as t sft n teen ffenders (犯事者), accrding t the Peple website. Criminal respnsibility begins at the age f 14. Offenders under the age f 16 d nt face serius punishment unless they d eight types f “serius” crimes such as murder.
This might partly explain why junir middle schl students are the mst cmmn ffenders in schl vilence cases. It’s reprted that they take up 33.96 percent f the ttal while high schl students take up 22.64 percent.
