Niao Jin Gong Cang,or"to put away the bow after the birds are gone", is a Chinese expression referring to the practice of kicking out the assistants（助理）when their services are no longer needed.Fan LI，a well-known official during the Spring and Autumn Period, was maybe the first person in Chinese history to truly understand the meaning and importance of this saying.
During the war between the State of Wu and the State of Yue, the King of Yue had two top officials,Fan Li and Wen Zhong. Soon after the State of Wu was conquered（攻克）， Fan Li suddenly disappeared.
At first, the King of Yue was worried.But later, after Fan's shoes and clothes were found along with a note on the bank of the Taihu Lake.the ruler thought otherwise （不同的）.
In that note. Fan said that since the ruler of the State of Wu killed himself, there were only two persons who might cause problems to the King of Yue: One was Xi Shi, and the other was Fan himself.
Xi Shi might cause problems because she might take the king's attention away from state affairs（事务with her beauty，and Fan，because he has too much power and could become a threat（威胁）to the king's rule
The note concluded by saying, "Now, I have helped you get rid of both of them."
The king thought that Fan had killed the beauty and drowned himself in the lake.A few months later, however, Fan was heard from again.Wen Zhong received a letter advising him to quit his post and leave the court（朝廷） as soon as possible.

Niao Jin Gong Cang,or"to put away the bow after the birds are gone", is a Chinese expression referring to the practice of kicking out the assistants（助理）when their services are no longer needed.Fan LI，a well-known official during the Spring and Autumn Period, was maybe the first person in Chinese history to truly understand the meaning and importance of this saying.
