When Oumou Dieye first started competing against men in the sport of golf, she was not confident and felt a little afraid. The men did not want to golf with her nor did they take her seriously. But then, she won her first game. After that, she had all the confidence she needed to keep playing and defeating male golfers.
Dieye is the only professional female golfer in Senegal. She was introduced to golf by her brother in-law and immediately fell in love. Not long after she began competing. Dieye was given a chance to train in Morocco. With the financial support from her French golf partners, she spent three months training with the Moroccan Golf Federation. She said she enjoyed the experience so much that she returned to Morocco and stayed for seven years. While there. she also taught children at a golfing school.
Today her home is filled with many golfing awards. She has won so many that she has lost track of the number. What she has done is notable because Senegal is a conservative, Muslim nation.
There is much pressure from society for women not to be involved in professional sports. The country practices a more liberal form of Islam However, the culture still has traditional ideas of what women should do. A woman who chooses sports over duties at home risks being rejected by her family. At first, her family was not supportive. But after seeing her love of the sport, they changed their minds.
In 2018. when Dieye returned from Morocco, she was not happy about the state of golf in her home country. She wanted to create a golf school similar to the one in Morocco. In 2020, The Senegalese Golf Federation agreed to help Dieye establish a golf school in preparation for the 2026 Summer Youth Olympics in Dakar. It will be Dieye's job to train Senegal's first national golf team. This will involve preparing female golfers-including her own daughter.
    21. What was the situation when Dieye first played golf with male players?
    A. She was a shy girl short of social skills.
    B. Her family didn't support her golf career.
    C. They didn't think she was a worthy competitor.
    D. She was the only female golfer of the country.
    22. What can we 1earn about the country of Senegal?
    A. It has received financial support from France.
    B. Women there are encouraged to stay at home.
    C. Sports play an important part in people's life.
    D. Golf players are very popular in the country.
    23. Which of the following best describes Dieye?
    A. A pioneer.
    B. An explorer.
    C. A producer.
    D. An investigator.
第一段中提到“the man did not want to golf with her nor did they take her seriously”即那些男高尔夫选手不想跟Dieye打,并且也没有认真对待她。 B选项她的家人不支持她打高尔夫,文章的第三段最后提到“at first, her family was not supportive. But after seeing her love of the sport, they changed their minds"故选项B错误。 Dieye is the only professional female golfer"故选项D错误。

A选项说塞内加尔得到了法国的经济支持,文章的第二段提到“With the financial support from her French golf partner,... C选项说运动在人们的日常生活中扮演了重要角色,文章的第三段中提到“a woman who chooses sports over duties at home risks being rejected by her family"说明女性体育运动在这个国家很难得到家里人支持。

    23选A。

A letter written to a 12-year old girl in Lithuania was delivered in December, almost 51 years after it was sent.
Now in her 60s, Genovefa Klonovska said after being handed the letter, "I thought that someone was pranking me." The letter included a handmade, colored rose and two paper dolls. It was sent to Klonovska by a young girl in Poland. They exchanged letters in what is known as a pen pal program-when people write letters to each other without actually meeting.
The letter, together with 17 others, was discovered this past summer when a wall was taken down in a former post office in Vilnius.
The letters, from the late 1960s and early 1970s, were likely hidden by a postal worker after he searched them for money or valuables, Vilutis said. The senders were family members or pen pals from places such as Australia. Poland, or Russia. Street names and their numbering have changed in Vilnius, capital of Lithuania. Post office workers spent months looking for the people who were supposed to receive the letters- the recipients. Only five recipients were found. In several cases, children of dead recipients were handed a lost letter.
Deimante Zebrauskaite, head of Lithuania Post, said "We felt a moral duty to do this."
Zelrauskaite added, "One lady compared the experience to receiving a message from a bottle thrown into sea. People were emotional (动情的) . Some people felt they saw a part of daily life of their dead parents.”
In the letter to Klonovska, sent from Koczary in Poland, a girl named Ewa complains buses no longer reach her village. Now in her 60s, Klonovska has no memory of Ewa. She probably wrote Ewa after finding her address in an advertisement for pen-pals in a newspaper. Their relationship stopped after the letter was not delivered. "The 1oss was not life-changing. "said Klonovska. She then asked, "What if they delivered a lost letter from a suitor(求婚者) to his love, and their wedding never happened?"
    24. The word "pranking" in paragraph 2 means
    A. playing a trick on
    B. paying attention to
    C. finding fault with
    D. getting in touch with
    25. Why were some people emotional when they received the 1etters?
    A. The arrival of the lost letters had been long expected.
    B. They knew more about their parents through the letters.
    C. A postal worker hid the letters for a selfish purpose.
    D. Postal workers overcame difficulties to find the recipients.
    26. What did Klonovska try to express in the last paragraph?
    A. Al1 these letters were important reminders of memories.
    B. She didn't mind if the post office gave her the letter.
    C. The course of her life would never change for the lost letter.
    D. The lost letters could have caused serious consequences.
故选择A。

“People were emotional. Some people felt they saw a part of daily life of their dead parents”意为“人们变得动情,有些人感觉他们看到了他们已经逝去的亲人的日常生活一部分”故选择B。

They say procrastination (拖延) is the thief of time- actually deadlines are. New research has found that if you want someone to help you out with something. it is best not to set a deadline at all. But if you do set a deadline, make it short.
Professor Stephen Knowles tested the effect of deadline length on task completion for their research. Participants were invited to complete an online survey concerning a charity donation. They were given either one week, one month, or no deadline to respond. Professor Knowles says although the topic of the survey was about charity: the results are true of any situation where someone asks another person for help.
The study found responses to the survey were lowest for the one-month deadline and highest when no deadline was specified No deadline and the one-week deadline led to many early responses, while a long deadline appeared to give people permission to procrastinate. And then forget. Professor Knowles wasn't surprised to find that specifying a shorter deadline increased the chances of receiving a response compared to a longer deadline. However, he did find it interesting that they received the most responses when no deadline was specified.
"We interpret this as evidence that specifying a longer deadline, as opposed to a short deadline or no deadline at all, removes the urgency to act, "he says. "People therefore put off undertaking the task, and since they are inattentive or forget, postponing it results in lower
    response rates.
He says of the research that it is possible that not specifying a deadline might still have led participants to assume that there is an unspoken deadline. Professor Knowles hopes his research can help reduce the amount of procrastinating people do. "Many people procrastinate. They have the best intentions of helping someone out, but just do not get around to doing it.
    27. Why did Professor Knowles do the research?
    A. To study the role a deadline plays in procrastination.
    B. To find out whether people are interested in charity.
    C. To attract public attention to the effects of procrastination.
    D. To test the effect of procrastination on task completion.
    28. What most likely leads to procrastination?
    A. No deadlines.
    B. Short deadlines.
    C. Specific deadlines.
    D. Long deadlines.
    29. Why do people procrastinate when given a long deadline?
    A. They oppose the deadline.
    B. They are unwilling to act.
    C. They lack a sense of urgency.
    D. They are too busy to remember.
    30. Which of the following is the best title for the text?
    A. Procrastination---- the Thief of Time
    B. Procrastination----an Urgent Problem to Solve
    C. Deadline ----a Result of Procrastination
    D. Deadline----the Key to Reducing Procrastination

定位到文章的第三段这句话“No deadline and one-week....and then forget"该句提到长期限给人们带来了拖延的可能,故本题选择D .

29.C。 C“they lack a sense of urgency"对应,故选择C。

Reading is essential but how can one choose the right books to read and where can one find them? A few famous people may give you some helpful tips.
    Read books from past eras.
31 Otherwise, you'd be "completely dependent on the prejudices and fashions of your times, "just as Alert Einstein put it." Somebody who reads only newspapers and books of contemporary authors looks to me like an extremely near-sighted person who dislikes eyeglasses, "he said.
    32
Reading too wide a variety in too short a time would keep the teachings from leaving a lasting impression on you. Seneca the Younger, a first-century Roman philosopher, suggested that "you must linger (流连) among a limited number of master thinkers, and digest their works, if you would obtain ideas which shall win firm hold in your mind.'
    Shop at secondhand bookstores.
Virginia Woolf believed the works in secondhand bookstores have an attraction which the usual volumes of the library lack. Browsing through these hooks gives you the chance to run into something that wouldn't have risen to the attention of librarians and booksellers. 33
    Check out authors' reading lists.
In his 1940 guide How to Read a Book, American philosopher Mortimer J. Adler talked about low to choose books. He attached importance to those that other authors consider worth reading.
34 Mortimer wrote that "one way to understand them is to read the books they read."
Make the final decision by yourself.
35 It's you yourself who should choose what, how and when to read. Theodore Roosevelt recommended choosing books on subjects that interest you and letting your mood guide you to your next great read.
    A. Interest is the best teacher.
    B. Great authors are great readers.
    C. Leave some room for older works.
    D. Learn more about those great authors.
    E. Don't jump too quickly from book to book.
    F. There's no "best books" list that everyone should follow.
    G. Usually they are much more selective in organizing their collections than secondhand book owners.
    【答案】31-35 CEGBF
本段落的核心落在“快速阅读”,第一句的“in a short time”可以锁定选项E。
34 B。挖空处前一句“He attached importance to those that other authors consider worth reading"(他重视那些其他作者认为值得一读的 书)和选项B (好的作家是好的读者),选B

考固定搭配in violation of 违反,in favor of支持, in honor of为...表示纪念(敬意,庆祝), in place of代替,“dress code"为着装规则,结合句意此题选A。

后文“the chance”指的应该就是“to walk across the stage with his classmate",结合前文David被拒,故他应该是错失机会,即“miss the chance"。

获益; excuse from常用于被动语态,sb be excused from,免除做某事。

    55. 解析:理解一下句意,“这句谚语也适用于将鞋子脱给有需要的人”,A contribute to做出贡献; B refer to 指的是; C turn to变成; D apply to适用于,故选D。

You might have heard of the word game Wordle. The online puzzle has become so. Popular that some people cannot go 56 clay without it. By November 1, 2021 : only 90 people 57 (play) Wordle but within two months. that number had grown to 300.000. Social media users helped grow the 58 (popular) of the game.
Wordle can be played once per day. It is very simple and that may be 59 it spreads so quickly. It contains just 30 empty squares 60 (appear) under the name "WORDLE.”
Players get six chances to guess a five-letter word that has been chosen by the game 61 that day. The goal is to guess the word in the least number of 62 (try). To start, players enter a real word 63 letters then turn different colors to provide clues about the word. A green letter means the letter is in the word 64 is in the right position. Yellow means the letter appears in the word but is in the wrong place while a gray letter means it does not appear in the word al all.
Originally, the game 65 (create) to activate office atmosphere by Josh Wardle, a New York software engineer.
56. a 57. had played 58. popularity 59. why 60. appearing
    61. for 62. tries 63. whose 64. and 65. was created
冠词的种类:定冠词(the),不定冠词(a、 an),零冠词(不加),这里的a day表示“任何一天”,“go”相当于“bear”, 表示“忍受”。The online puzzle has become so popular that some people cannot go a day without it. 考点:“go” 的熟词生意,“can not..without"双重否定表示强调

    57.had played。

It contains just 30 empty squareswhich appear under the name "WORDLE."

    63. whose。letters then turn different colors to provide clues about the word主letters;系turn; 表different colors ;目 的状语: to provide clues about the word由此可知,定语从句成分完整,填“whose",关系代词做定语,和前面先行词有明显的从属关系。To start, players enter a real word, whose letters then turn different colors to provide clues about the word。

    64. and。A green letter means the letter is in the word 64 is in the right position. A green letter means the letter is in the word and it is in the right position。it指代the letter,主语一致,前后无转折关系,用“and”连接。

Dear friends from Ireland"
Sincere welcome to all of you.

My family moved in a small house in Brighton, Colorado on my seventh birthday. My first memory is our neighbor Bill. an old man, handing me strawberries from his garden through a hole in the chain-link (铁丝网) fence. "We need to make the hole bigger, "he said jokingly. Later I knew that he lived alone.
Bill spent much time working in the garden, and I was always talking to him from our yard. I was a chatterbox. I think what drew me to Bill is that he never got tired of listening to me. I also think Bill saw a lot of himself in me- -we were both lonely and anxious- -and that may be why he always took the time to listen to me. It was a wonderful connection.
There weren't any kids of my age in the neighborhood, and my parents were very busy, so I mostly played in the yard with my dog. I had a lot of imaginary friends- -a whole family, actually with a wife, children, a best friend no joke. Weird kid.
One day, my parents asked Bill whether he'd watch me while they were away on business. This worked well for everyone, so it became a somewhat monthly occurrence. Bill had a spare room in his house, which became "my" room.
Bill promised to teach me to drive the lawn tractor (割草机) someday and I was always looking forward to it. In winter, Bill would attach a snowplow (铲雪机) to the front of the lawn tractor. I seriously told him that I would invent a better snowplow when I grew up. "Sure you will. You'll get a patent certificate. It takes a certificate to prove an important thing. "Bill said with a smile.
One snowy morning: an idea suddenly hit me. My parents were watching TV when I spit it out, "What if I adopted Bill as my grandpa?" My parents said I could go over and ask him.
    注意:
    1.所续写短文的词数应为150左右:
    2.至少使用5个短文中标有下划线的关键词语:
    3.续写部分为两段。开头语己为你写好;
    4.续写完成后,请用下划线标出你所使用的关键词语。
    Paragraph 1
I knocked on his door, sat down in his living room, and asked. "Can I adopt you as my grandpa?"

    Paragraph 2
The next morning, while learning to drive the 1awn tractor with a snowplow, I accidentally plowed down our chain-link fence.

    Bill: an old man;说话比较jokingly..
    段落中关键词句(除划线词外):“make the hole bigger”“jokingly”
I had a lot of imaginary friends--a whole family, actually, with a wife, children, a best friend..no joke.
Bill promised to teach me to drive the lawn tractor someday.
    down our chain-link fence"之后,Bill 的反应上。
So nervous was I that I was afraid of being blamed by Bill, as my palms sweated constantly. But what Bill uttered next pushed our relationship closer. He voiced in a joking tone as usual, “Oh, so lovely my grandson is! You do make the hole in the fence bigger as I told you!”
“四点情节法”中的另外三个点,还有一个也可以用原文信息解决,我选择化用原文第三段的“I had a lot of imaginary friends--a whole family, actually, with a wife, children, a best friend.. .no joke." I hugged back, and thought in my heart,“ Fine, maybe I
indeed have a lot of imaginary friends- at least, a best friend.. No joke."
I knocked on his door, sat down in his living room, and asked," Can I adopt you
    as my grandpa?"
Rooted to the spot, Bill was obviously shocked by what I said.
Abruptly, it occurred to my “grandpa” Bill that he had promised to teach me the driving strategies of the lawn tractor. Thus, we decided to start up it the next morning.
Rooted to the spot, Bill was obviously shocked by what I said.
Abruptly, it occurred to my“grandpa”Bill that he had promised to teach me the driving strategies of the lawn tractor. Thus, we decided to start up it the next morning.
So nervous was I that I was afraid of being blamed by Bill, as my palms sweated constantly. But what Bill uttered next pushed our relationship more connected. He bantered in a joking tone as usual,“ Oh, so lovely my grandson is! You do make the hole in the fence bigger as I told you!”
I hugged back, and thought in my heart,“ Fine, I indeed turned imaginary friends into friends- at least, a best friend... No joke."

I knocked on his door, sat down in his living room, and asked. "Can I adopt you as my grandparents?" Bill stood frozen for a little while before a broad smile came across his face. Then I saw tears in his eyes. He wrapped me in his arms and buried his face in my coat to hide his tears, his voice trembling. "Of course sweet heart! I'm so happy to be your grandpa!" Soon after Bill printed out an adoption certificate and hung it on the wall of ''my" room. Gazing at the snow outside, Bill said to me excitedly, "It's time to learn how to drive a lawn tractor."
The next morning, while learning to drive the lawn tractor with a snowplow, I accidentally plowed down our chain-link fence. I was almost frightened to tears, but Bill just chuckled in his laid-back way and comforted me, "Don't worry, Grandson. I have already planned to change a fence. "We eventually replaced it with a nice, tall wooden fence. My dad and Bill installed it together. What impressed me most was that there was a door on the fence, which definitely strengthened our connection. Underneath, I knew that we were a true family now.
