Step 1Lead-in
The teacher intrduces the lessn by shwing students pictures and asking them questins at randm.

What damage may flds cause?
The teacher draws students’ attentin t the tpic f “flds” and activates students’ knwledge f flds.
Step 2 Speaking
Students share their ideas in grups f fur by asking the fllwing questins.

2. Have yu ever been caught in a fld?
3. If s, please describe what happened t yu and what yu did t reduce the damage.
4. What was it like?
5. What did the peple caught in a fld d t save themselves?
After discussin, the teacher asks several students t reprt.
Step 3 Listening
Students listen t Part A—an nline talk abut fld safety tips and finish A1 n Page 22 by deciding whether the statements are true (T) r false (F) and then circle the incrrect infrmatin in the false statements and crrect it in the blanks.
Students check their answers in pairs and then reprt them t the whle class.
Step 4 Discussin
Students listen t the cnversatin again and finish A2 n Page 22. After listening, students check the answers in grups.
Step 5 Reading
The teacher guides students t read the first half f Le’s stry n Page 23 and has students try t analyze the features f a stry by asking the fllwing questins.

3. What happened?
Students read the stry again abut a family caught in a fld and find ut the setting, characters and plt f the stry.
Step 6 Writing
After reading, the teacher has students discuss in pairs what might happen next in the stry.
