三、阅读理解(24分)
A
Spiders are not insects as many people believe. They belong to a class of animals called arachnids(蛛形纲动物). Spiders have eight eyes, four pairs of legs, and can grow a new leg if they lose one. A spider's body is divided into two sections: the abdomen(腹部) and the cephalothorax(头胸部). The legs, eyes, and mouthpart are in the cephalothorax section
Most spiders have poison glands(毒腺) and sharp teeth They use their sharp teeth to force poison into the insects they catch for food. This poison can make an insect rose the ability to move, and the helpless insect is then devoured by the spider.
Spiders usually have silk glands under their abdomen. They produce a liquid(液体) that is thicker than water from their glands. When the liquid comes into the air, it dries into silk. Many spiders use this silk to form webs to catch insects and to make cocoons(茧) that protect their eggs. This amazing silk is also used to create lines that spiders hang onto as they travel to new areas.

When was the last time you saw three men running down a forest trail (小径) in the rain wearing flip-flops(拖鞋)? That's what my friend Brandon, Josh and I were doing last autumn. We were looking for a waterfall(瀑布). We didn't have much time to get to the waterfall and back, so we were running. We were wearing flip-flops to prevent our shoes getting dirty.
It was raining, but lightly. It kept us cool as we climbed over giant stones and through a shallow(浅的) stream. We followed red arrows (箭头) and crossed that stream several times, walking on toward the promised waterfall. Time was not on our side, however, and we were forced to turn around. As we started back, we looked at the shallow stream we had just crossed. Where did this rushing river come from? That was when we realized a flash flood was around!
In the few minutes the water rose at a fast speed. Now there were no big stones to be seen--only what looked like lumps (隆起) covered with rushing water. We had no choice but to move our way back carefully in the rushing water--in flip-flops. We had crossed the stream not once or twice, but six times in search of a waterfall that we never even reached!
With most of the crossings,we needed each other's help if we didn't want to be washed away by water. Wet all over, we felt relaxed after we made the last crossing.
"My dad always told me to keep off a river when travelling in the rain," Josh said as we hurried back down the path.
"Why didn't you tell us that earlier?" I laughed.
"Would it have made a difference?" came the reply.

A squirrel(松鼠)that was nearly killed nine years ago continues to visit the family that saved,
raised and later sent her into the wild.
In October 2009, a four-week-old squirrel was almost killed by an owl(猫头鹰). Luckily, a wildlife rescue group saved her and left her in the care of Brantley Harrison and her family in South Carolina. The Harrisons often look after wild animals and later send them back into the wild.
The Harrisons named her Bella. With three other squirrels, Bella stayed in Brantley's care until spring. During her stay Bella acted similarly to the other squirrels. In April 2010, the squirrels were sent back into the wild. Bella, however, wasn't ready to leave her human family. Within days of being released, she started visiting them, looking for treats. Brantley said that the other squirrels also came back over the first few days, but within a week they stopped coming by and began to avoid people.
“Bella usually sits at the front door, waiting for someone to notice her. She comes almost day,” said Brantley. Her husband John often brings Bella nuts as she is usually waiting by the door for him. Actually Bella has become a member of the family.
For nine years, she continues to visit them. Brantley said, "If Bella can teach at least one person to care for all living things, no matter how big or how small, then we have done what we have set out to.”

You run among crowded people in a railway station, only to find that the train has left. Do you feel depressed(沮丧的)? Probably. But if you are in France, someone may play the piano for you. It might be a performance of Chopin's Fantaisie Impromptu or the theme song of Pirates of the Caribbean. To our surprise, it is not performed by a paid musician or a street entertainer asking for coins. Instead, it's a passerby jam session(即兴演奏)on the piano in r:he station.
The national railroad company SNCF has put pianos in nearly 100 stations across France. They are tented from Yamaha Corporation The first piano was set up in the Gare Montparnasse in Paris in 2012.
The pianos have proved to be very popular. In 2014,the SNCF and Yamaha organized a nationwide contest called "Your Turn to Play". It asked participants to upload(上传)video clips of themselves using one of the pianos. At last, about 900 people took part in the contest.
So if you miss a train in France one day, perhaps someone will be playing your favourite piece, and that will reduce your anxiety(焦虑)a bit. Or perhaps you'll sit down, roll up your sleeves and play your sadness away yourself.
1. If you miss a train in France, who may play the piano for you?
