    2a: Students do some discussion: What do you do or eat on your birthday?

    Then look at the pictures and learn to talk about different traditions of birthday in different countries.

    In China, the birthday person eat long noodles. 长寿面

    Long noodles are the symbol of long life.

    Eggs are a symbol of life and good luck.

    Next, talk about some international traditions about birthday:

    eat birthday cake, get birthday present, have a birthday party, make a wish,

    blow out the candles

    Later, lead students to make some sentences according to the pictures and the key phrases.

    Look at the title and the picture in 2b. What is the passage mainly about? Read the passage quickly to see if you are right.
