Sample:

    An important event that I remember well was Jiuzhaigou Earthquake. It happened on August 8th, 2017. During the earthquake many people were hurt and some people

lost their lives.

    When I heard the news of the earthquake, I was watching TV in the living room. My dad and mom were at home, too. Dad was reading books while Mom was making dumplings.

    I remember this event well because my good friend Daming and his family were taking vacations in Jiuzhaigou. I was worried about them. I kept calling him. When I heard that they were alive and safe, I was very excited.

Step 3 Review Grammar

过去进行时表示过去某一时间点正在进行的动作或过去某一段时间一直进行的动作。

1. 构成:

   主语 + was/were + doing sth. + 其他

2. 标志词: at 8 o’clock last night, at this time yesterday, at that time 等。

4. 过去进行时与一般过去时的区别

过去进行时表示在过去某一时刻或某段时间正在进行的动作(强调反复的动作)；

一般过去时表示在过去某个时间发生的动作或存在的状态(强调一次性动作)。
