Step 3 过去进行时
1. 构成及用法
过去进行时由“was / were +动词-ing”构成，表示在过去某一时刻或某一段时间正在进行的动作。常与过去进行时连用的时间状语有at eight / nine ... (’clck) yesterday mrning, at that time，frm eight t ten yesterday mrning等。
如: Alice was ding her hmewrk at six yesterday evening.
Mike and his brther were playing sccer frm three t fur yesterday afternn.
2. 句式
肯定式：
主语+was/were+动词-ing (+其他).
如：I was swimming at that time.
否定式:
主语+wasn’t/weren’t +动词-ing (+其他).
如：They weren’t listening t music at ten yesterday mrning.
疑问式:
Was / Were+主语+动词-ing (+其他)?
其肯定回答为：Yes, 主语(人称代词)+ was / were.；
否定回答为：N, 主语(人称代词)+ wasn’t / weren’t.
如：—Was Je reading at the time f the rainstrm?
—Yes, he was. / N, he wasn’t.
3. 过去进行时和现在进行时的区别
现在进行时
含义: 表示现在正在进行的动作。
结构： is/am/are + ding
e.g. I am having an English class.
过去进行时
含义: 表示过去某个时刻正在进行的动作。
结构: was/were + ding
e.g. I was having an English class at this time yesterday.

基本用法
表示在过去的某一时刻或某一时间正在进行的动作。
过去某个时间发生过的动作或存在的状态。
结构形式
主语 + was/were + V-ing形式

night等;when与while
引导的时间状语从句。
yesterday, last week, in 1993, nce, befre, a few days ag等。
友情提示
表示一个过去正在进行而可能尚未完成的动作。
表示过去已经完成的动作。
过去进行时表示过去正在进行的动作, 而一般过去时则表示一个完整的动作。
e.g. They were writing letters t their friends last night.
昨晚他们在写信给他们的朋友。 (没有说明信是否写完)
They wrte letters t their friends last night.
他们昨晚写了信给他们的朋友。
(表达了他们已写好的意思, 整个写的过程已完成。)
5. 过去进行时中的when和while
when和while都可表示“当……的时候”, 引导时间状语从句。你知道两者在过去进行时中的用法有什么不同吗？
