My sn was entering Grade 1.He was a bit nervus because he knew his best friend wuld nt be in his new class.I explained t him that even thugh his best friend wuld nt be in his class, he wuld still have sme f his ld classmates.
On the first day f schl when the class list was psted, I was shcked! My sn had zer frmer classmates in his ne.
Hw culd this happen?
I asked my friend wh wrks with the HamiltnWentwrth District Schl Bard. She explained, “Many largely ppulated schls ften shuffle (弄混) the kids arund each year t encurage new friendships.”
If schls are actively trying t place tw best friends in different classes simply t shake things up, I think it is a blunder.
I was lucky enugh t attend the same primary schl all the way thrugh. It was a small class and ur grup f students mved thrugh each grade tgether. We felt like brthers and sisters. It was wnderful.
While it may be gd t shake things up a bit in the lder grades, it seems almst cruel (残忍的) t separate gd friends in the yunger grades withut gd cause.
One mm named Karen says that her sn is always starting a new grade withut any clse friends. At first, she thught it was a gd idea. Then she realized ne thing — her sn des nt have a “best friend”,which makes her pretty wrried. In fact, she thinks that he des nt have any clse friends because his classmates are always changing.
Part f a schl's respnsibility is t prvide a safe and cmfrtable space fr children t learn and grw.If that envirnment is always changing — causing terrible results — perhaps it is time t rethink this practice.
