“If yu dn't behave, I'll call the plice”is a lie that parents might use t get their yung children t behave.A new psychlgical (心理学的) study led by Nanyang Technlgical University, Singapre suggests that it is cnnected with harmful effects when the children becme adults.
The research team asked 379 Singaprean yung adults whether their parents lied t them when they were children, hw much they lie t their parents as adults, and hw well they respnd adulthd challenges.
The first questinnaire asked these yung adults t recall if their parents tld them lies abut eating, leaving r staying, spending mney and s n.Sme examples f such lies are “If yu dn't cme with me nw, I will leave yu here by yurself”and“I dn't bring mney with me tday, we can cme back anther day.”The secnd questinnaire included questins that culd shw hw ften they lie t their parents as adults.Lastly, these yung adults filled in tw ther questinnaires that asked them abut their psychlgical prblems and tendency (趋势) t behave selfishly and impulsively (冲动地).
Adults wh reprted being lied t mre as children were mre likely t reprt lying t their parents in their adulthd. They als said they faced greater difficulty in meeting psychlgical and scial challenges.
Lead authr Seth Peipei frm NTU Singapre's Schl f Scial Sciences said, “Parenting by lying can seem t save time, especially when the real reasns behind why parents want children t d smething are difficult t explain. When parents tell children that ‘hnesty is the best plicy’,but display dishnesty by lying, such behavir can send negative messages t their children.Parents' dishnesty may finally erde trust and encurage dishnesty in children.”
“Our research suggests that parenting by lying is a practice that has negative influence n children when they grw up.Parents shuld be aware f these pssible risks and cnsider ther ways t replace lying, such as knwing children's feelings, giving infrmatin s children knw what t expect, ffering chices and slving prblems tgether, t encurage children t have gd behavir,”said lead authr Seth Peipei.
But the study has its limitatins.Sme limitatins f the study include depending n what yung adults reprt abut their parents' lying.“Future research can explre using many infrmants (提供信息的人), such as parents, t reprt n the same thing” suggested Seth.

    1.A.annying B.independent
    C.enthusiastic D.cnfusing
My daughter lved dance, until she didn't. I nticed her interest disappearing week by week可知,女儿开始是喜欢舞蹈的,后来兴趣才慢慢减退,所以开始的一年应该是有热情的,故选C。
    2.A.ran B.jumped
    C.climbed D.walked
    3.A.advise B.invite
    C.allw D.rder
    4.A.wrry B.cnfidence
    C.fright D.kindness
    5.A.answer B.questin
    C.agree D.accept
    6.A.end B.space
    C.side D.directin
reach the bitter end “到达痛苦的终点”。故选A。
    7.A.partly B.hardly
    C.equally D.bviusly
    8.A.descriptin B.cnsideratin
    C.bservatin D.imaginatin
With the winter shw cming near, I realized she needed t either drp her class r devte herself t it.
    9.A.challenge B.chance
    C.chice D.failure
解析:选C 根据she decided dance wasn't fr her 可知,女儿决定不再跳舞,这是她作出的选择,故选C。
    10.A.setting B.frgetting
    C.building D.clearing
解析:选D 根据下文中的ending dance made space fr her new 11 可知,结束舞蹈为她新的爱好腾地儿了。
    11.A.ideas B.camps

    12.A.warning B.dubting
    C.stressing D.ignring
    13.A.suitable B.unfair
    C.extra D.infrmal
故选A。
    14.A.hld B.quit
    C.value D.accept
    15.A.spare B.change
    C.admit D.finish
