Girl with a Pearl Earring has been part f the Mauritshuis's cllectin in Hague since 1902 and is still n display at the museum. Rumurs(谣言)have surrunded Jhannes Vermeer's wrk ever since it was rediscvered in the late 19th century, and this painting still cntinues t generate interest, debate and imaginatin.
Althugh Vermeer was amng the mst successful artists wrking in Delft during the 17th century, he was almst cmpletely frgtten after his death in 1675. Very little is knwn abut Girl with a Pearl Earring. Hwever, art histrians have decided several imprtant facts abut the painting. Recent research suggests that the black, negative space behind Vermeer's mdel was riginally painted dark green.

Instead, mst schlars agree that Girl with a Pearl Earring belngs t a kind f painting called Trnie that began in the Lw Cuntries arund Vermeer's time. This type f artwrk ften prtrays(描绘)characters rather than actual peple. It prtrays a certain type f character; in this case a girl in fanciful dress, wearing an riental turban and an imprbably large pearl in her ear.

根据第一段中的he began painting sunflwers t brighten up the whitewashed walls f the yellw huse he was living in可知,他画向日葵的目的是为他居住的黄色房屋内的被粉刷成白色的墙壁增添色彩。
Gauguin accepted Van Ggh's Ggh painted the last tw f the fur riginal Sunflwers fr the mdest bedrm where his guest wuld sleep fllwing his arrival that autumn.
He painted the Sunflwers quickly and with great energy and cnfidence. I think he painted them fr the jy f it可知,詹森认为凡·高画这些向日葵是为了从中获得乐趣,因此凡·高当时是喜欢自己的画作的,故排除C项(凡·高当时一点也不喜欢他的《向日葵》)。

Even during his lifetime, Vermeer's influence was mainly limited t Delft where he earned a reasnable living as a painter and art dealer.(即使在他一生中,维米尔的影响力主要局限于代尔夫特,在那里他以画家兼艺术品经销商的身份过着还算体面的生活。) Vermeer was amng the mst successful artists排除;C项文中没有提到。
While it is impssible t identify Vermeer's mdel, due t a cmplete lack f evidence可知,由于完全缺乏证据,无法确定维米尔的模特的身份。 故选A。

从该句中可以提取两点信息:一是in a drawing r painting;二是place things。
由His purpse was...和He als wanted t...
After he had invited the French artist Paul Gauguin, whm he admired, t jin his Studi f the Suth, he began painting sunflwers t brighten up the whitewashed walls f the yellw huse he was living in, nt far frm the twn's railway statin.
After引导时间状语从句,其中whm he admired是一个定语从句,修饰先行词the French artist Paul Gauguin;主句中he was living in是一个省略了引导词that或which的定语从句,修饰先行词huse。
It is interesting t nte that the painting was knwn as Girl with Turban r simply Yung Girl fr mst f its existence and nly received its current name less than a century ag.
