    Japan recently made a decisin that shcked the wrld. On April 13, Japanese Prime Minister Yshihide Suga annunced that the gvernment will dump radiactive wastewater (放射性废水) frm the Fukushima nuclear pwer plant (核电厂) int the Pacific Ocean in tw years.
    The decisin caused cncern and anger bth at hme and abrad. Fr example, China’s Freign Ministry said Japan is making a highly irrespnsible decisin withut using all pssible ways t deal with the wastewater.
    Hwever, while the wrld is criticizing (批判) Japan, the US Department f State said that Japan has been “transparent (透明的) abut its decisin”. US Secretary f State Antny Blinken even thanked Japan n Twitter. S far, the US is the nly majr cuntry that has penly expressed supprt fr Japan’s mve.
    Althugh the US shwed its supprt, it has banned imprts (进口) f farming and seafd prducts frm the regin fr ver 10 years since the Fukushima nuclear plant was destryed in 2011.
    And it recently renewed the ban n March 4 - 40 days befre the Japanese gvernment annunced its decisin t dump the wastewater, accrding t the US Fd and Drug Administratin (FDA).
    The ban includes ver 100 types f farming and fishing prducts such as milk, vegetables and salmn (三文鱼). “The FDA and the Japanese gvernment will cntinue t [wrk tgether] t make sure prducts frm the [regin] dn’t pse a health risk t US cnsumers (消费者),” the ban nted.
    Freign Ministry spkesman Zha Lijian tld reprters that since the US cares abut envirnmental issues, it shuld remind Japan t take an hnest, scientific and respnsible attitude tward the wastewater issue instead f paying n attentin t principles (原则) and using duble standards.
