Master the usages of the emphasis structures：

1.It is/ was + 被强调部分+ that/ who+ 句子其余成分；

2. Is/ Was it + 被强调部分+ that/ who+ 句子其余成分；

3. 特殊疑问词+  is/ was it + that +句子其余成分；

4. It + is / was + not until...+ that +句子其余成分。

StepI Lead-in

  例句：7月1日在学校报告厅我们庆祝了党的99岁生日。

Eg：On July 1st, We celebrated our Party’s 99th birthday in the

 school lecture hall.

  强调句型是英语中的一种重要的句子结构，它可以强调除谓语以外的其它成分，是英语学习者必须掌握的一种重点句型，因而在高考英语试卷上占有一席之地。现对强调句型的各个主要方面作以下归纳。

StepII 基本结构：

 It is(was)+ 被强调部分+ that（强调部分是人时也可用who/whom） +其他成分

On July 1st, We celebrated our Party’s 99th birthday in the

   时状    主                   宾语           地状

school lecture hall.

It was we that(who) celebrated our Party’s 99th birthday in the school lecture hall on July 1st.                                              (强调主语）

It was our Party’s 99th birthday that we celebrated in the school lecture hall on July 1st.                                                 (强调宾语）

It was in the school lecture hall that we celebrated our Party’s birthday on July 1st.                                                    （ 强调地状）

It was on July 1st that we celebrated our Party’s birthday in the school lecture hall.                                     （强调时状）

StepIII 强调句型注意要点

  (1).强调句型的时态要以原句的时态为依据。原句用现在时，强调句用is；若原句为过去时，强调句中则要用was。例如：

    We watched “red movies” yesterday. （原句）

→It was “red movies” that we watched  yesterday.

（强调宾语”red movies”，原句watched为过去时，强调句也用过去时was。）

(2).要注意主谓一致性。例如：

It’s we who are to answer for it.

It’s I, not my classmates, that am doing hand copied newspaper.

(3).强调时间、地点状语时不得用when和there取代that，也应避免使用which。

(4).被强调的是疑问句，改为强调句后仍用疑问句结构。例：

     Where did you celebrate our Party’s 99th birthday?

→Where was it that you celebrated our Party’s 99th birthday.

陈述句：

It was by watching”red movies” and doing hand copied  newspapers that we  celebrated our Party’s 99th birthday. 我们通过看红色电影，做手抄报来庆祝我们党的99岁生日。

一般疑问句：

Was it by watching”red movies”and doing hand copied  newspapers that you celebrated our Party’s 99th birthday.你们是通过看电影，做手抄报来庆祝我们党的99岁生日吗？

特殊疑问句：

How was it that you celebrated our Party’s 99th birthday? 你们 是怎么庆祝我们党的99岁生日的？

特殊疑问词 + is / was it that?

究竟为了什么你没来参加这个活动?

----Why was it that you didn’t attend the activity?

究竟是什么阻止你实现梦想?

----What was it that prevented you from realizing your dream?

(5). not… until 结构的强调：

      强调“not…until”引导的时间状语时，要用“it is/was not until…that…”结构,that后面的句子要用肯定式，且须用陈述句语序。

       Eg: We did not get off the bus until it stopped .

 It was not until it stopped that we got off the bus.

      (注意：强调该结构时not until不能分开)

StepIV.强调句型的判断

It is/was— that”去掉，如果剩余部分句子结构仍然完整，那么这个句子就是强调句；如果句子不完整，则不是强调句。如：

It is true that he join the Communist Party of China.               (主语从句）

It was on July 1st that we celebrated our Party’s 99th birthday.       (强调句式)

注：强调时间状语和地点状语时与定语从句的区别：

（1）It was in 1921 that our Party was founded.(强调句式)

（2）It was 1921 when our Party was founded.(定语从句)

即：强调时间或地点时有介词置于其前时，则连接词用that。其前面应有介词而被省去时，则用连接词when（时间）或where(地点)。
