Althugh we dn’t knw fr sure what first caused the COVID-19 utbreak, it’s time fr peple t reflect n ur relatinship with ur planet and recnnect t this wrld and everything that we’ve been given. After all, nature is nt the place t visit. It’s ur hme.

    First Snw
Mr Rbert Lynd nce said f Jane Austen’s characters: “They are peple in whse lives a slight fall f snw is an event.” Even at the risk f appearing t this fair and witty reviewer as anther Mr Wdhuse, I must insist that last night’s fall f snw here was an event. I was nearly as excited abut it this mrning as the children, whm I fund all lking thrugh the windw at the magic utside and talking away as excitedly as if Christmas had suddenly cme rund again. The fact is, hwever, that the snw was as strange and fascinating t me as it was t them. It is the first fall we have had here this winter, and last year I was ut f the cuntry, sweating in a ht climate, during the snwy seasn, s that it really des seem an age since I saw the grund s fantastically carpeted.
The first fall f snw is nt nly an event but it is a magical event. Yu g t bed in ne kind f wrld and wake up t find yurself in anther quite different, and if this is nt magic, then where is it t be fund? The very secrecy and quietness f the thing makes it mre magical.
When I gt up this mrning the wrld was a cld place f dead white and pale blues. The light that came thrugh the windws was very strange, and it made the familiar business f splashing and shaving and brushing and dressing very strange t. Then the sun came ut, and by the time I had sat dwn t breakfast it was shining bravely and flushing the snw with delicate pinks. The dining-rm windw had been transfrmed int a lvely Japanese print. The little plum tree utside, with the faintly flushed snw lining its branches and artfully dispsed alng its trunk, std in full sunlight.
An hur r tw later everything was a cld sparkle f white and blue. The wrld had cmpletely changed again. The little Japanese prints had all disappeared. I lked ut f my study windw, ver the garden, the field, t the lw hills beynd, and the grund went n and n, the sky was thick grey, and all the trees s many black and threatening shapes. There was indeed smething curiusly disturbing abut the whle prspect. It was as if ur kindly cuntryside, clse t the very heart f England, had been turned int a cruel grassland. At any mment, it seemed, a bdy f hrsemen might be seen breaking ut frm the black trees, s many weapns might be heard and sme distant spt f snw be reddened. It was that kind f landscape.
Nw it has changed again. The glare has gne and n tuch f the disturbing remains. But the snw is falling heavily, in great sft flakes, s that yu can hardly see acrss the shallw valley, and the rfs are thick and the trees all bending, and the weathercck f the village church, still t be seen thrugh the grey laded air, has becme sme creature ut f Hans Andersen. Frm my study, which is apart frm the huse and faces it, I can see the children flattening their nses against the windw, and there is running thrugh my head a rhyme I used t repeat when I was a child and flattened my nse against the cld windw t watch the falling snw:
    Snw, snw faster:
    White alabaster!
    Killing geese in Sctland,
    Sending feathers here!
(Adaptatin frm First Snw by Jhn Byntn Priestley)
