Wang’s trouble is not unusual at all because puppy love has become a big headache for both parents and schools. They worry that puppy love will be bad for children’s studies. Wang Ling’s school makes it a rule not to allow any talk or any physical contact between a boy and a girl alone.
Many students say they understand why their parents and teachers are so nervous about puppy love. But some think they are going too far. “We have our own thoughts and we know what to do with it,” said Wang Ling.
Another girl, Jiang Ting, likes making friends with boys. “My mother asks me to study hard. However, she never stops me from making friends with boys,” she said. Jiang Ting once told her mother she might fall in love with a boy. Her mother let Jiang make her own decision. UK schools are allowed to punish pupils who break the school rules. Detention is a method that UK schools use to punish children. It means that students are asked to stay at school at the end of the school day. They usually stay for 30 minutes or an hour.
Freya MacDonald was a 15-year-old student from Scotland. She made the news in the UK when she refused to accept her school’s punishment and took legal action(提坊法律诉讼). The teenager said that it was not legal to keep a pupil in the school building if the student didn’t want to be there.

I hear you want to come to China to do some volunteer work but you don’t know what to do. Here is some advice for you. I think first you should think about what you like to do and what you are good at. If you like working outside, you can help clean up the city parks. If you like playing with children, why not visit some sick kids in hospital and cheer them up? Can you sing? If so, you can sing for the old people at the old people’s home. Wish you a pleasant volunteer experience!
