Hello, listeners. Welcome to Henton Hospital Radio. Before our music program at four, I’m going to repeat some of our hospital rules.
The visiting hours are in the afternoon from 2:30 to 3:30 and in the evening from 7:00 to 8:00. But remember only two people can see you at the same time. Sorry about that, but you can imagine what would happen if we didn’t have these rules. The other rules are about our hours. We start pretty early—you might not be used to that. We wake you at 6 o’clock, breakfast is at 8 o’clock, and lunch is at noon; there’s tea at 3:30 and supper is at 6 o’clock. You can see the no-smoking sign—we don’t allow smoking in the wards. However, if you do need to smoke, there are special areas where it is allowed.
You will find the radio switch on the wall near your bed, with your headphones, if you want to listen. It’s our own hospital radio wishing you a speedy recovery.

In the 1970’s, people who managed ponds had a problem with plants and snails in the water. To control the pests, the managers brought four species of carp, a type of fish, from Asia. But some of the fish escaped into rivers and other waterways. Soon, there were lots of fish. And they became troublesome invasive species. These non-native fish can bully ecosystems, quickly taking over. Growing fast and big, they ate lots of the food on which the native fish would normally depend. Bighead carp are an invasive species in the United States. Binbin Wang is using a combination of computer modeling and field experiments to study how the eggs of these and other invasive carp could be transported in the Missouri River.
Today, the descendants (后代) of those carp remain a big problem. And as the fish spawn (产卵), their eggs have been drifting (漂流) far and wide. Anticipating where something will drift can be a challenge. But finding answers may handle the crisis.
At the University of Missouri in Columbia, civil and environmental engineer Binbin Wang is working to figure out where eggs of the invasive fish are spreading in the Missouri River. If science can get ahead of the problem, there’s hope that people may figure out how to stop it. But if science is too slow to answer this question, legions of carp eggs will grow into adults that outcompete their neighbors. Stopping their spread would help reduce the overall damage they cause.
Drifting may seem somewhat random, but scientists are doing researches to make useful predictions possible. Some of these drift detectives want to know if large icebergs threaten offshore oil platforms. Others hope to track the polluted air or water-and determine where they’re coming from. The work is challenging. It also can be very rewarding. Most importantly, their findings may point toward solutions for some important environmental threats.
24.The scientists track the drifting of carp eggs in order to ________ .
A.ensure the quality of their eggs B.protect the native fish
C.stop them from polluting the water D.make it easier to transport them
25.What does the underlined word “crisis” in paragraph 2 refer to?
A.The carp’s spawning. B.The direction of eggs’ drifting.
C.The extinction of the invasive fish. D.The spread of the invasive fish.
26.What can we learn from the passage?
A.Where carp eggs are drifting is still a barrier to the research.
B.Researches have already found ways to stop the drifting of eggs.
C.It’s easy to predict the direction of the drifting of invasive fish eggs.
D.Cleaning the polluted water is the best solutions to environmental treats.
27.What’s the author’s attitude towards the drift detection?
A.Indifferent. B.Unclear. C.Positive. D.Doubtful.

这是一篇说明文。文章介绍了入侵鱼种大头鱼对环境和生态造成了威胁,为此科学家们正在想办法追踪它们卵的踪迹,以便想办法阻止其危害。
24.细节理解题。根据第三段中的“But if science is too slow to answer this question, legions of carp eggs will grow into adults that outcompete their neighbors. Stopping their spread would help reduce the overall damage they cause. (但如果科学进展太慢,无法回答这个问题,成群的鲤鱼卵将成长为成年鲤鱼卵,并在竞争中击败它们的邻居。阻止它们的传播将有助于减少它们造成的总体损害)”可知,科学家们跟踪鲤鱼卵的漂流,以便保护本地鱼类。故选B。
25.词句猜测题。根据第二段中的“These non-native fish can bully ecosystems, quickly taking over. Growing fast and big, they ate lots of the food on which the native fish would normally depend.(这些非本地的鱼类可以威胁生态系统,并迅速接管。它们长得又快又大,吃了很多当地鱼类通常赖以为生的食物)”及第二段中“Today, the descendants (后代) of those carp remain a big problem. And as the fish spawn (产卵), their eggs have been drifting (漂流) far and wide. Anticipating where something will drift can be a challenge. But finding answers may handle the crisis.(今天,这些鲤鱼的后代仍然是一个大问题。随着鱼的产卵,它们的卵一直在四处漂流。预测一些东西会漂移到哪里是一个挑战。但找到答案或许能解决危机)”可知,划线词意为“危机”,指的是上文提到的入侵鱼类的扩散。故选D。
26.推理判断题。根据第二段中的“Anticipating where something will drift can be a challenge.(预测一些东西会漂移到哪里是一个挑战)”及最后一段中的“The work is challenging.(这项工作富有挑战)”可知,鲤鱼卵漂向何处仍是研究的障碍。故选A。

In April 2008, I came across an essay a boy with autism(自闭症)had written when he was 14. I was impressed. I thought there was potential for a documentary. The director agreed. “Find the boy!” he said. A couple of months later, I found him, Anton. So it began -a film about Anton’s transformation. At least, that’s what I thought at the time.
During filming, I helped put him into different hospitals and camps for treatment and we became close. There were lots of unforgettable moments. I remember one visit when we sat together, talking quietly and eating food I’d made. Then it was time for me to go. Without saying a word, Anton stood up and started to bang his head against the wall. BAM. BAM. Blood streamed down his face. At that moment, looking at the despair on Anton’s face, I recognized myself. What I recognized was an emotional abundance in him that I had myself. Like Anton, I was over the top. If I loved someone, I loved them completely. If I was upset, I let it show. But unlike Anton, I’d learned to edit emotions as if they were a film. But lately, I was waking up in the morning with one terrifying thought: “Who am I?” Anton helped me to answer this. He was the only person in my life who let me love without any holding back and who loved me the same way.
The film Anton’s Right Here was released in October 2012 and shown at film festivals in Russia where it received prizes at several major Russian film festivals.
After the film was shown by the First TV Channel -Russia’s main TV channel - letters flowed in. Autistic individuals and their families needed help. That’s when the idea of a foundation began to take shape in my mind. The foundation, called Anton’s Right Here, officially opened in December 2013. It’s Russia’s first-ever centre for adults with autism. It keeps helping people with autism like Anton.
When we started to film, Anton was 19. He’s now 31. I’m still very much a part of his life. With his unedited emotions, Anton reminds me every day of what it’s like to be really, unreservedly loved and to love back in return.
28.Why did the writer want to find Anton?
A.She intended to make a film about Anton. B.She saw Anton’s potential to be a writer.
C.She wanted to transform Anton’s life. D.She was asked to do so by the director.
29.Why did Anton hurt himself during a visit?
A.He was lost for words. B.His condition was getting worse.
C.He tended to lose his temper for no reason. D.He did not want the writer to leave.
30.What do we know about the documentary from the passage?
A.It took 5 years to shoot.
B.It aroused little social concern.
C.A foundation of the same name was established by Anton.
D.Shooting it made a difference to the writer’s life.
31.What lesson did the writer learn from Anton?
A.How to deal with autism. B.How to edit her emotions.
C.How to love and be loved. D.How to live life to the fullest.

Feeling hungry? If so, what’s the easiest way to satisfy your hunger? Many of us will reach for a takeaway menu and order some delicious but possibly unhealthy food. And our increasingly busy and hectic lives, or some other reasons that we lack the skills to prepare a meal for ourselves might add to our need to buy ready-made food on the go or delivered to home.
Eating options (the freedom to choose) are endless, and new technology means we can feed our cravings or eager desires at the push of a button. Takeaway delivery apps make ordering food quick and convenient, and during the recent corona virus (冠状病毒) crisis, it provided a lifeline to those stuck at home with nothing to cook or who lacked the skills to prepare a meal for themselves. It’s estimated (估计) that in the UK alone, people eat three million takeaway meals a day, and the three biggest delivery apps together offer a choice of 100 cuisines from 60,000 restaurants. Amelia Brophy, Head of UK Data Products at YouGov, told the BBC that its research “suggests that the frequency of takeaways ordered is expected to increase in the future”.
It’s no wonder we are tempted and attracted to skip the grocery shopping, bypass the kitchen, and tuck into something that someone else has prepared. But ordering a deep crust pizza, a spicy curry or a box of noodles, can come at a price both financially and to our health. Eating too much processed and unhealthy fast food has some effect on obesity (肥胖) and the risk of developing certain metabolic and cardiovascular diseases. A few years ago, The BBC Good Food Nation Survey found that most people ate fast food on average two days per week. But, in the 16 to 20-year-old category, one in six ate fast food at least twice a day.
Of course, reducing salt, sugar and fat is one way to make takeaway food healthier, as well as offering smaller portion sizes. But the best advice you might want to take away from this Takeaway English is to find a recipe book and try making your own nutritious meal. And if you haven’t got time, try ordering a healthier alternative from the menu.
32.Why might some people choose to order a takeaway meal?
A.They might be too lazy to cook themselves.
B.They might never have the experience of cooking.
C.They might be so young that they can’t cook for themselves.
D.They might be too busy to cook or might be short of the skills to prepare a meal.
33.What is the quick and easy way to order your takeaway food?
A.Takeaway delivery apps B.A takeaway menu C.Grocery shopping. D.Going to the restaurant.
34.What’s the number of the takeaway meals eaten by people a day in the United Kingdom?
A.100. B.60,000. C.3,000,000 D.3,000,000,0000
35.What does the last paragraph mainly talk about?
A.The reasons of the great need of takeaway food. B.The suggestions of making takeaways healthier.
C.The increases of takeaways in the future. D.The results of fast food.

To help you understand what 5G is, and what it means to you, we’ve put together a handy guide here.
What is 5G?
___36___At its most basic level, 5G will be used to make calls, send texts, and to simply get online. But it’s going to be significantly faster than previous generations, and could open the door up to a range of exciting new uses.
___37___
5G will use new higher radio frequencies to send out data, which are less cluttered(挤了)and carry information much faster. While these higher bands are faster, they don’t carry information as far. That’s to say, smaller multiple input and output antennas (天线)will be used—promoting both signals and capacity(容量).___38___
Why is it better than 4G?
5G is expected to be faster than 4G, with some firms claiming it could be as much as 100 times quicker. The fastest 4G networks can deliver peak download speeds of around 300 Mbit/s.____39____In real life, this could allow you to download a full HD film in less than 10 seconds!
___40___It means there will be very little—if any—delay when you carry out tasks on a device. While this will help improve things like gaming experiences, it could also pave the way for safer self-driving cars—in which even a short delay could be life-saving.
Finally, 5G will have a larger capacity, meaning networks will be able to deal with several apps at once. Generally, this should mean that devices have a faster, more stable connection.
A.How does 5G work?
B.How will 5G affect you?
C.5G is also expected to have a lower latency.
D.5G is short for “5th generation mobile network.”
E.In comparison, 5G could offer download speeds of over 1 Gb/s.
F.Therefore, the similarity between 5G and 4G technology is huge.
G.This means 5G will support up to 1,000 more devices per meter than 4G.
