(河北石家庄高三一检)When smene damages their backbne, the injury can leave them paralyzed (瘫痪). Nw, scientists have given three paralyzed men the ability t walk again, thanks t an implanted device.
The human backbne, r spine, desn’t just help us stand up straight. Inside is the spinal crd, which carries imprtant infrmatin between the head and the lwer part f the bdy. This infrmatin mves arund as bursts f electricity traveling between the brain and the ther parts f the bdy. When the spinal crd is hurt, this pathway gets damaged and they can’t mve their legs.
Nw scientists in Switzerland have given three paralyzed men the ability t walk again. T help them walk again the men had surgery. A special device was placed directly n the lwer part f their spinal crd, belw their injury. This “implant” cntained sixteen electrdes, which are small bjects that electricity can pass thrugh. The researchers made sure the electrdes were lined up with nerves that cntrl the leg muscles. The scientists cntrlled the implants frm a tablet cmputer.
The patient’s brains aren’t sending “walking” messages t their legs. Instead, the tablet tells the implant t send the walking messages. The researchers used cmputers t generate patterns f mvement, like taking a step. The patient then uses the tablet t chse the pattern and the muscles mve in the chsen way. Over time, the men were able t walk using a special walker with buttns t cntrl each leg.
The slutin isn’t perfect. It’s very expensive, it requires difficult surgery, and the patients can’t walk withut the system. But the scientists are hpeful that in the future, this srt f technlgy will allw many paralyzed peple t begin t walk again in just hurs.
    28. What's the main functin f the spinal crd?
    A. It serves as a message carrier.B. It helps peple stand up straight.
    C. It takes cntrl f the muscles.D. It prduces signals fr mvements.
    29. What is the implanted device expected t d?
    A. Activate the damaged nerves.B. Identify the psitin f the injury.
    C. Test the degree f the damage.D. Bridge the nerve gap made by the injury.
    30. What is Paragraph 4 mainly abut?
    A. Hw the surgery is perfrmed.B. Hw the device wrks n patients.
    C. Hw the patients walk withut aid.D. Hw mvement patterns are designed.
    31. Which can be the best title f the text?

根据第二段“Inside is the spinal crd, which carries imprtant infrmatin between the head and the lwer part f the bdy.(里面是脊髓,它在头部和身体下部之间传递重要信息。)” 故选A项。
根据第二段“Inside is the spinal crd, which carries imprtant infrmatin between the head and the lwer part f the bdy. This infrmatin mves arund as bursts f electricity traveling between the brain and the ther parts f the bdy. When the spinal crd is hurt, this pathway gets damaged and they can’t mve their legs.(里面是脊髓,它在头部和身体下部之间传递重要信息。这些信息作为电流在大脑和身体其他部位之间传播。当脊髓受伤时,这条通路就会受损,他们的腿就不能动了。)”以及第三段“The researchers made sure the electrdes were lined up with nerves that cntrl the leg muscles. The scientists cntrlled the implants frm a tablet cmputer.(研究人员确保电极与控制腿部肌肉的神经对齐。科学家们通过平板电脑控制植入物。)”可知,脊髓受伤时,神经流受损导致他们的腿不能动,所以科学家植入特殊装置的预期用途是弥合受伤造成的神经间隙。故选D项。
30.主旨大意题。根据第四段“Instead, the tablet tells the implant t send the walking messages. The researchers used cmputers t generate patterns f mvement, like taking a step. The patient then uses the tablet t chse the pattern and the muscles mve in the chsen way.(相反,平板电脑让植入物发送行走信息。研究人员使用计算机生成运动模式,比如迈出一步。然后,患者使用平板电脑选择模式,肌肉以选定的方式运动。)”可知,本段主要介绍了该设备如何在患者身上工作。故选B项。
31.主旨大意题。根据第一段“Nw, scientists have given three paralyzed men the ability t walk again, thanks t an implanted device.(现在,由于植入了一种设备,科学家们已经让三名瘫痪男子恢复了行走的能力。)”以及最后一段“But the scientists are hpeful that in the future, this srt f technlgy will allw many paralyzed peple t begin t walk again in just hurs.(但科学家们希望,在未来,这种技术将允许许多瘫痪的人在短短几个小时内重新开始行走。)”

(北京市石景山区高三一模)When it cmes t lwering ur carbn emissins (排放), it seems that nthing is simple. Electric vehicles (EVs) act as an example f ptential greenwash. “They seem very attractive at first sight,” writes The Next Web in a reprt. “When we lk mre clsely, it becmes clear that they have a substantial carbn ftprint.”
The rare earth metals and cstly minerals included as essential ingredients in EV batteries are nt renewable. What’s mre, their extractin (提炼) is ften anything but green.
S the questin is: is it wrth it? Just hw much emissin reductin can EVs justify? Luckily, a life cycle assessment has been dne t give us sme answers.
“A life cycle analysis f emissins cnsiders three phases,” writes The Next Web. “the manufacturing phase, the use phase, and the recycling phase.” In the manufacturing phase, the battery is t blame. “Emissins frm manufacturing EV batteries were estimated t be 3.2 tns f carbn dixide (CO2), 1/4 f thse frm an electric car, 13 tns f CO2. Thse were bigger than emissins frm gas cars, 10.5 tns f CO2.” If the vehicle life is assumed t be 150,000 kilmeters, emissins frm the manufacturing phase f an electric car are higher than gas cars.”
In the use phase, the surce f electricity the cnsumer is using t pwer their car cmes int play in a majr way. “T understand hw the emissins f electric car vary with a cuntry’s renewable electricity share, cnsider Australia and New Zealand,” cntinues the reprt. “In 2018, Australia’s share f renewables in electricity was abut 21%. In cntrast, the number in New Zealand’s was abut 84%. Electric car emissins in Australia and New Zealand are estimated at abut 170g and 25g f CO2 per km respectively. As a cnsumer, ur car is nly as green as ur cuntry’s energy mix.”
Finally, in the recycling phase, we lk at vehicle dismantling(拆除), vehicle recycling, battery recycling, and material recvery. “The estimated emissins in this phase, based n a study, are abut 1.8 tns fr a gas car and 2.4 tns fr an electric car. This difference is mstly due t the emissins frm battery recycling, which is 0.7 tns,” shws in the reprt. “While electric cars cause mre greenhuse gas emissins than gas cars d, it's imprtant t nte the recycled batteries can be used in subsequent batteries. This culd have significant emissins reductin benefits in the future. Fr cmplete life cycle emissins, the study shws that EV emissins are 18% lwer than gas cars.”
S here’s the takeaway: EVs are greener. Maybe they’re nt as green as we thught. There’s certainly rm fr imprvement. But the real challenge lies in speeding the glbal energy transitin tward greener energy-prductin.
    32. Why is a life cycle analysis f emissins made?
    A. T illustrate the advantages f EVs.
    B. T shw hw gas cars utperfrm EVs.
    C. T weigh the envirnmental impact f EVs.
    D. T examine the energy surces f gas cars and EVs.
    33. Hw des the authr supprt the underlined statement in Paragraph 5?
    A. By giving instructins.B. By highlighting features.
    C. By making cmparisns.D. By analyzing cause and effect.
    34. Accrding t the passage, what cntributes t EVs’ beating gas cars?
    A. Recycling f batteries.B. Overall driving distance.
    C. Manufacturing technlgy.D. Gvernment’s energy plicy.
    35. Which f the fllwing statements des the authr supprt?
    A. EVs are wrthy f the praise they have received.
    B. EVs are nt successful fr their envirnmental dwnsides.
    C. EVs will n lnger be widely accepted fr their emissins.
    D. EVs are nt truly green until their energy surces becme green.

根据文章第一、二段内容及第三段“S the questin is: is it wrth it? Just hw much emissin reductin can EVs justify? Luckily, a life cycle assessment has been dne t give us sme answers.”(所以问题是:这值得吗?
根据文章第五段内容“In 2018, Australia’s share f renewables in electricity was abut 21%. In cntrast, the number in New Zealand’s was abut 84%. Electric car emissins in Australia and New Zealand are estimated at abut 170g and 25g f CO2 per km respectively.”(在2018年,澳大利亚可再生能源在电力中的份额约为21%。
    34. A。 根据文章倒数第二段内容“While electric cars cause mre greenhuse gas emissins than gas cars d, it's imprtant t nte the recycled batteries can be used in subsequent batteries. This culd have significant emissins reductin benefits in the future. Fr cmplete life cycle emissins, the study shws that EV emissins are 18% lwer than gas cars.”(虽然电动汽车比汽油汽车排放更多的温室气体,但需要注意的是,回收电池可以用于后续电池。 故选A。
    35. D。 根据文章最后一段“S here’s the takeaway: EVs are greener. Maybe they’re nt as green as we thught. There’s certainly rm fr imprvement. But the real challenge lies in speeding the glbal energy transitin tward greener energy-prductin.”(所以结论是:电动汽车更环保。
