    Unit1 Where did you go on vacation?Section B 1a-1d威县二中 张少飞Teaching background:   1Teaching content:   This is a listening and speaking lesson. And this lesson is from Unit 1, Grade 8, the first term, PEP edition.    The content is about a Lisas trip to Hong Kong.   2Learning situation analysis   The students have learned the new words before this class and simple past tense last term, so comprehending the phrases and structures is not difficult for them.   In this class, I'll give out some tasks to let the students to collaborate, via group work, pair work, brainstorming, mind mapping, etc. All these activities can make the students involved in this lesson.Learning Targets:   1Master the following words: delicious, expensive, exciting, cheap, terrible, boring.      2Learn to use special questions: Where did you go on vacation? What did you do? How was the food?……   3Enjoy your life and make yourself a better one.Teaching important points and difficulties:1How to talk about past events.2Use of special questions.Teaching methods:   1Pair work and group work.    2Brainstorming.   3Making a survey.   4Mind mapping.   Teaching process:   Step 1 Warming up   Start the lesson with a test of the new words.   Step 2 Leading-in.    Present some pictures on the screen and ask the students to describe them with proper adjective words. And then show the words to the students and they are delicious, expensive, exciting, cheap, terrible, boring. Next, put the words into two box, happy words and unhappy words.   Step 3 Listening    Listen and finish 1c.    Listening skills: Before listening to the audio, read the questions carefully and try to get the main idea while listening.   Step 4 Listening   Listen and finish 1d.    Listening skills: Try to get the key words while listening and just write down a the first or the first two letters if the audio is two quick. And complete them when you listen for the second time.   Step 5 Pair work: Retell the story according to the mind map.   Ask the students to retell the story with their partners.   Ask two students to show.   Step 6 Collaborate and gaming.   Ask the students to read the listening text and then ask students of two groups to finish the game of judging true of false on the screen.   After the game, check the answers with the students.   Step 7 Group work 1   Ask the students to read the listening text again and then ask another group to finish the gap filling on the screen and then check the answers with them.   Step 8 Group work 2--Making a survey   Ask each group to make a survey within the group with the following questions:1Where did he/she go on vacation?2What did he/she do?3Did he/she do anything special?4How was/were the food / the people there?Step 8 Drills:  P.S. Something about Hong Kong.1Its part of China forever.2Show the flag of Hong Kong to the students.3To find the position in China with Google Earth.Homework:  Drills on the exercise book.
