一、教学目标:
1. 复习M7前两个单元的重要句型
2. 通过小组活动和习题操练感知并总结一般过去式的定义及句型结构、用法
3. 通过Around the world的学习了解南非英雄曼德拉
4. 通过本单元的学习,进一步学会如何介绍自己与他人的过去生活
二、教学重点和难点
教学重点:一般过去式的定义及句型结构、用法; 如何介绍自己与他人的过去生活
教学难点:如何灵活运用一般过去时准确介绍自己与他人的过去生活
三、教学过程:
1. Warming-up & revision:
(1)Look at two pictures of Betty & Tony to review some key sentences learned in the last two units:
Eg:Who is she? Who is he?
--She is Betty. --He is Tony.
Where was she born? Who was his first teacher?
--She was born in Quincy. --His first teacher was Mrs Lane.
Was she bored in Quincy? Was he difficult in class?
--No. She wasn't bored in Quincy. --No, he wasn't. He was good in class.
- Presentation
(1) Let students look at these sentences and try to find out the difference
含有be动词的句子是怎样体现一般现在时态和一般过去时态的呢?
--通过be动词的变化。(引导学生作答)
(2) The past forms of be
T: Can you tell me the past forms of “be”?

- Ask students to read about Liu Yun and write sentences like this:

B: Invite some students to make short conversations to show their answers.

— (Her first friends were) Feifei and Lulu.
(4) Activity 2 ( pair work)

Step2: Ask and answer----Complete the Your partner column.

A: Ss: Complete the sentences with the correct form(形式) of be in activity 3.
B: T:. Invite some students to show their answers
C: T & Ss: Conclude the definition and structure of the Simple Past Tense
(一):一般过去时主要用来叙述 过去发生的事情或存在的状态。
(二): be 动词的一般过去时的三种句型
1. 肯定 句:主+was/were+其他
2. 否定句:主+wasn't/weren't+其他
3. 疑问句:
一般疑问句:Was/Were+主语+其他?
特殊疑问句:特殊疑问词+was/were+主语+其他
(6) Activity 4:
A: T: Invite one students to read the words in the box, he reads them once, and the others follow him and read them twice.
B: Ss: Complete the sentences with the correct form of the word and expressions from the box.
C: T: Invite some students to show their answers and check them together.
Read the main phrases and ask students to read after the teacher.
(7) Around the world: Read to know more about the hero of South Africa
