As Colin put his mountain bike against a bush so that he could recover it on the way back, Vito said, “I'll come for you if you're not back when the night falls." “Nothing to worry about,” Colin replied in a confident voice.
With the bear spray in one pocket,Colin started hiking.He marked his trail(足迹，踪迹） and made lots of noise to drive away any curious animals.
Before he knew it, it was getting dark. Not wanting to get caught in the dark, and satisfied with what he'd finished that day, he started to climb down the mountain, and soon recovered his bike.
As he passed a marker showing 3 kilometers away from the camp, he suddenly stopped his bike-a bear stood in the middle of the narrow road,some hundred meters away. Knowing it could easily attack him if he sped up, Colin decided not to anger the bear.

After we fed the puppy, we gave it a nice bath. It was so dirty that the fur was black and sticky, but after we gave it a bath, it turned white.And I noticed there was a collar (狗项圈)on him, which said “Coby”. After we gave him a bath, we went to look for the p uppy's owner, but my mom stayed at home, and it was only my dad and me this time.
We continued looking more and more until we found flyers. “We looked at it.”it said.
“Lost Dog: Please Help if Found.” Then we looked at the picture;it looked exactly like Coby. We were all happy we found a flyer that was for Cody.

While he was fishing, he heard something in the water crying out-and that was when he saw some kind of animal swimming in the river! Justin tried to reach for the animal but ended up falling in the freezing cold water as well.Luckily, Justin was somehow able to locate the animal-a coyote pup!-in the water and catch his raft before it was taken away by water for good!
When Justin brought the animal back to his raft, the little coyote pup didn't seem to be breathing, with its eyes closed. The pup was lucky yet again as Justin had first-aid knowledge and was able to do a Heimlich treatment by pushing on its stomach. After a few pushes, water came out of the coyote's nose and he was breathing again! Justin and his new' friend were both wet through so they made an effort to reach land again where Justin made a fire and tried to warm the little guy up.”

They offered the dog some of her favorite peanut butter treats. They even let her sit on the sofa，but the old girl just wasn’t her usual cheerful self. Her owners started to get worried，“What should we do to cheer Poppy up？”asked Dad. “We’ve tried everything. ”
“I have an idea，but it might be a little crazy，”smiled Mon. “Without anybody left in the house but us，this place could use a bit of fun. Let’s get a little dog for Poppy. ”
It didn’t take long before they walked through the front door carrying a big box. Poppy welcomed them home as usual，but when she saw the box，she stopped. She put her nose on it. Her tail began wagging（摆动）ever so slowly， then faster as she caught the smell.

Starting to get frustrated, he went over and tried to drive them toward the bam. They panicked and scattered into every direction except toward the bam. Nothing he did could get them to go into the bam where there was warmth, safety, and shelter. Feeling totally frustrated, he exclaimed. “Why don’t they follow me? Can’t they see this is the only place where they can survive the storm? How can I possibly E them into the one place to save them?”
He thought for a moment and realized that they just would not follow a human,

The little man had never come across the terrible animal before and was too scared to breathe. “Ah!” The bear interpreted this silence as a gladiator (角斗士). It approached cautiously and slowly. As it came near, the boots of fear were suddenly upon the little man's feet. He cried out and then ran around the campfire. “Ho!” said the bear to himself, “this thing won't fight — he runs. Well, let me catch him.” It started strongly around the campfire. The little man screamed and ran violently. Twice around they went.
In desperation the little man flew into the tent.

By now we had named the puppy. She looked like a Molly, so we called her Molly. She followed the girls everywhere they went. When they went outside, she was one step behind them. When they did housework she was there to help.
There was only one problem with this perfect dog: my conscience (良心) was bothering me. I knew in my heart I had to call that number and see if our Molly was the puppy they were desperately looking for.

The next day at school, I met my old cousin. We discussed the matter for hours and finally, an idea came to us.

I climbed onto a chair near the window well, turned on the flashlight and looked cautiously through the curtain. I saw nothing but a few spider webs. I listened. Suddenly, a loud sound came from the ceiling. Something was in the ventilation duct(通风管道). The sound grew louder and more frequent. I paused.
What was making the noise? Could it be a snake like the boys suspected? Pepper had killed a few snakes and brought them home to show us. I told myself that, if it were a snake, it was probably harmless since rattlesnakes aren't common in Omaha, Nebraska. It seemed too noisy to be a snake.

Two years ago, a dog ran into my yard. When he started to wag his tail and bark, I thought he was nice. But when my hand got close to his forehead, he lashed out and bit me. Even though the dog had to go to the pound, the fear and the scares he gave never left.

On a Friday it happened and I ended up running to my house instead of taking the bus home. I went straight into the woods. Suddenly I heard whimpering (呜咽). I saw the last thing I wanted to see, a dog. From instinct I stood up, legs tense, but the dog didn’t move. Even with my fear of dogs, a part of me wanted to go and comfort the wounded dog. Eventually my heart overpowered my conscience. Carefully I reached out my right hand. My scar started to tingle, remembering the last time I was this close to a dog. Then, before I was ready the dog stretched out his neck, pushing his head into my hand. At that point I knew we needed each other.
The dog happily followed me home. Even after a few days with Scruffy (which is what I chose to name him), the statement “Dogs are man's best friend” was proven true.
One day, I was taking him for a walk when I noticed a sign on a telephone pole. The sign read:
Lost Dog
Medium height, brown eyes, male, scruffy light brown hair. Answers to the name Copper. If seen, please call me at 544-0222, or bring him to my house at 18 Sugar Hill Road, Easton, NH.

It was freezing cold when night fell. Concerned about the wild goose's safety, we begged dad to protect the little guy. Dad took the tiny little thing to the back porch (门廊) to keep warm and protect him from wild animals. The small wild goose seemed in a panic, unaware of what could happen. The next morning, we try to drive the wild goose over to his parents, who kept coming back to our yard. He wouldn't go to them, and they wouldn't come close to take him. My sister Anna called the little guy Peeper, because he would follow us around the yard making a peeping noise, nonstop. Every time we called his name, he would respond. Days turned into weeks, and weeks turned into months until almost a year passed. Peeper liked to sleep on our back porch each night, and every day my dad would clean up all the goose droppings (鸟兽的粪便) carefully. At 5:00 p.m., four new cavers, two men and two women, volunteered to lend a hand.Foremost on their minds was the fact that this type of cave floods. "If it rains," Mirza says,＂that cave will kill people." That night's forecast:rain.
The cavers made their way to the tight space that had stopped Mirza and his partner. On the other side was a passage with a stream. Suddenly—“I found him!” Daisy cried.
