2、代词指代 常用代词有it,they,this,these,them,all等。

3、分析并列递进关系,尤其注意not only..but also.,for one thing, for another,furthermore,moreover, what's more,besides,additionally,as well(as),apart from等连词。
4、分析转折对比关系逻辑衔接,注意but, however, yet, otherwise, by contrast,on the contrary, nevertheless等连词。
重视连接词,认识其用途,如in fact,in other words, or rather,for example,for instance namely,that is(to say)等等。
6、分析因果关系,连词如for, because,since, as, so, therefore, thus, hence,accordingly, as a result(consequence),consequently,lead to,thanks to 等

According to Jessica Hagy, author of How to Be Interesting, it's not difficult to make yourself interesting at a dinner party.
__36__, if you're out of your comfort zone or if you're wandering into somebody's house for the first time. So the main thing is just to show up and be adventurous, trying different foods and talking to strangers.
People love to talk about themselves. If you can start the conversation with a question other than “What do you do for a living?”, you'll be able to get a lot more interesting conversation out of whomever it is you're talking to. __37__, it can bring in “I have this old, broken-down vehicle” or “I rode the bus with these crazy people who were laughing at silly jokes in the back.” It just opens up conversation.
__38__? If you can't take their wine away, you should certainly try to take away their soapbox (讲台). If you're the host, you can ask them to help you in the kitchen with something and just remove them from the situation. __39__.
And what about that other dinner-party killer: awkward silence? If you're faced with an awkward silence at a dinner party, the only thing that always gets everyone talking again is to give the host a compliment (赞扬). __40__. Just quickly turn around and say, “This cake is extremely delicious and you have to tell me all about it.”
So being interesting at a dinner party isn't that hard.
A.How do you know the host
B.The first step is to go exploring
C.If you ask the question “How did you get here?”
D.Be prepared to have awkward conversations with strangers
E.Or turn the conversation into a topic where they have little to say
F.What about that person who has had too much to drink or won't stop talking
G.He or she is the person who is feeling the weight of that awkwardness the most

题36 段落主旨总结 结合下文的“just to show up and be adventurous, trying different foods and talking to strangers”可知,露面、敢于冒险,尝试不同的食物以及和陌生人交谈是应该做的事。B项“The first step is to go exploring”(第一步是去探索)是对这些做法的总结,符合语境。
自主解答:________
自主解答:________
空后的“If you can't take their wine away”“their soapbox(讲台)”与F项中的“has had too much to drink”“won't stop talking”分别对应。
自主解答:________
题39 逻辑关系 E项“或者把谈话转向一个他们几乎无话可说的话题”承接空前的“If you're the host, you can ask them to help you in the kitchen with something and just remove them from the situation”,给出了另一种选择,符合语境。

Let's focus on what to do when you're about to tear up your homework, feed it to your dog, or pretend it never exists. What you choose to do is very important because it can affect how you feel about yourself and how you handle frustrating (令人沮丧的) situations in the future. __1__ Practicing them will make it easier to keep trying and, over time, help you get less frustrated during your learning journey.
Step 1: Recognize
Recognize your frustration. __2__ Allowing yourself to be frustrated and saying to yourself that it is okay are an important first step and are surprisingly relieving.
Step 2: Remind
__3__ It means you're challenging yourself to learn. Remind yourself that difficulty and struggles are a natural part of pushing yourself to grow as a learner.
Just as you can push yourself to run faster by pushing your muscles to their limit, you can push your brain to work extra hard. The more you push, the more your muscles will be sore (酸痛的) and tired in the moment. __4__ Frustration can be a sign that your brain is getting sore and tired.
Step 3: Reset
Try taking a short break. A few minutes away might be what your brain needs. Then, come back to your work. __5__ This step is very important! If all you can focus on is how frustrated you are, it may be hard for your brain to be ready to learn. On the other hand, be careful not to use this step to run away from the thing that is making you frustrated.
The good news is that the more times you go through these steps, the stronger your good habits will become.
A.Don't ignore it.
B.You can't figure it out.
C.Often, you will see the problem with fresh eyes.
D.Sometimes struggles and a little frustration are a good thing.
E.But when that soreness goes away, your muscles are stronger.
F.Create a plan for what you will do next time to overcome the frustration.
G.Here are a few steps to help you become better at dealing with frustration.
空前的“Recognize your frustration”和空后的“Allowing yourself to be frustrated”都在强调要接纳自己的沮丧,即承认你的沮丧,允许自己感到沮丧。A项“不要忽视它”承接上下文,其中的it指代“frustration”,故选A项。

Corn is the most dominant agricultural product in the U.S., and perhaps the world. __1__ But when their crops failed, the settlers of the New World decide to mix corn into their agricultural efforts. Fastforward a couple of hundred years, and this tall grass now covers 90 million acres of land in America alone and accounts for some 10% of total crop production globally.
__2__ One is that growing corn generates far more calories per unit of land than nearly any other crop. Another key factor was that much more ammonium nitrate(硝酸铵), a kind of explosive, was left afterWorld War Ⅱ. Agriculture scientists successfully repurposed it into a cheap form of fertilizer. This allowed corn to be grown in the same fields year after year, without reducing the nitrogen in the soil. __3__ We can eat it, process it into syrup, fuel our cars with it and feed it to our animals.
The dominance of corn, however, has negative effect. Currently, we use approximately 40% of corn grown in the U.S. to create ethanol(乙醇) and 36% to feed animals. __4__ Ethanol has a low “energyreturnedonenergyinvested” ratio(比率), meaning we must put a large amount of energy into producing it. An indirect negative effect of the dominance of corn has been its help in fueling explosive growth in the livestock industry.
__5__ Traditional monoculture farming, which means growing one type of crop continuously, worsens soil and often leads to harmful runoff into streams and rivers. Farmers themselves can change from monoculture practices to those that include a wider variety of species. As consumers, we can buy organic corn. Though not absolutely ecofriendly, organic agriculture is miles ahead of traditional farming.
A.Corn helped newcomers root in the new land.
B.Many reasons account for the dominance of corn.
C.Additionally, corn has incredibly many different uses.
D.Even just growing corn is far from environmentally friendly.
E.Unfortunately, both uses cause great damage to the environment.
F.These days about 80% of the world's farmland is for animal production.
G.Originally grown in Central America, European explorers initially avoided it.
2.答案与解析:B 根据下文中的“One is that... Another key factor was that...”

Music has long been considered to be an enjoyable pastime for many people. 1. The mental health benefits from music can't be argued.Music could also be helping you with many other health problems behind the scenes.
2.However,for the same reason, music can be very beneficial if one is in pain.By distracting (分心) the mind from the pain, music, people say,can lower stress and anxiety levels. This,of course, can lead to less pain.
Many people enjoy relaxing music in the evening prior to going to bed.3.While the validity of the idea is still being assessed, the lowered stress can even be tied back to blood pressure.Similarly, according to researchers, listening to just 30 minutes of soft music every day may help with healthy blood sugar levels, through the lowering of stress and anxiety.
When it comes to heart health, there is speculation (推测) that it's not the style of music, but rather the tempo that makes it so good for your heart health. In one European study, participants listened to music as the researchers monitored their heart rates and blood pressure.4. On the other hand, when the music slowed, the participants' stress and anxiety levels became lower and the effects on heart rates appeared to follow suit.
5.But there is a whole range of other health issues that turning up the radio could be beneficial for, which is what makes music so valuable.
A.This feeling can also result in many other health problems.
B.Some experts say that music can be harmful if it is too loud.
C.This idea is a little off-the-wall but still has scientific backing.
D.They say it can play a big role in calming the brain enough to sleep.
E.The implications of music on overall well-being are really impressive.
F.It is also highly popular due to the individualized effects on stress and anxiety.
G.Interestingly, the more cheerful the music was,the faster their heart rates were.
1.F 2.B 3.D 4.G 5.E
1.
空格后说“The mental health benefits from music can't be argued”(音乐对心理健康的益处是毋庸置疑的),F选项It is also highly popular due to the individualized effects on stress and anxiety中的stress and anxiety照应了mental health benefits,因此F选项切合题意,故选F。
2.
空格后说“However, for the same reason, music can be very beneficial if one is in pain”(然而,出于同样的原因,当一个人处于痛苦中时,音乐是非常有益的),However表转折,因此空格处为对音乐的负面评价,B选项Some experts say that music can be harmful if it is too loud中的harmful就是负面评价,因此B选项切合题意,故选B。
3.
空格前说“Many people enjoy relaxing music in the evening prior to going to bed”(许多人喜欢在晚上睡觉前听些轻松的音乐),D选项They say it can play a big role in calming the brain enough to sleep中的sleep和going to bed相呼应,因此D选项切合题意,故选D。
4.
空格前说“In one European study, participants listened to music as the researchers monitored their heart rates and blood pressure”(在欧洲的一项研究中,参与者听音乐,研究人员监测他们的心率和血压),G选项Interestingly, the more cheerful the music was,the faster their heart rates were中的heart rates和前面的heart rates相照应,因此G选项切合题意,故选G。
5.
空格后说“But there is a whole range of other health issues that turning up the radio could be beneficial for, which is what makes music so valuable”(但是,开着收音机还可以对一系列其他的健康问题有益,这就是音乐如此有价值的原因),因此本段讲的是音乐对身体总的好处,E选项The implications of music on overall well-being are really impressive讲的是音乐对整体健康的影响是非常令人印象深刻的,因此E选项切合题意,故选E。

1.B 2.E 3.D 4.F 5.A
1.
根据文章第一段“Talking freely with your doctor can make you feel better and gives your doctor the information she or he needs to give you the best care. Don't be afraid or embarrassed to discuss something that is bothering you.” Here are some tips for talking with your doctor.(这里有一些与你的医生交谈的小建议。)
Remember, your doctor and other caregivers are on your side.(记住,你的医生和其他护理人员都站在你这边。)
3.
根据文章“This will make it easier for you to answer questions about your symptoms(症状)and how medicines make you feel. It also makes it easier for you to bring up anything that you are worried about. Make sure to be honest about how you feel and how long you've felt that way.” Before your doctor's visit, keep notes on how you are feeling.(在你的医生来之前,记下你的感受。)
4.
根据文章“Your medical history is a list of your illnesses, treatments, what the doctors told you to do, and anything else you think your doctor should know. Also, if you are allergic(过敏)to any medicines, be sure to mention that to your doctor.” Bring your medical history, including a list of your current medicines.(带上你的病史,包括你目前的药物清单。)
5.
根据文章“Do not be afraid to ask your doctor any questions you have. To remember all the questions you have when you are not in the doctor's office, write them down and bring the list with you to your appointment.” 以及“Remember—there's no such thing as a stupid question. If you don't understand the answer to a question, ask the doctor to explain it again until you do understand.” This will make getting answers easier.(这将使获得答案更容易。)
