Japanese artist Ei Wada discvered that ld televisin sets made great percussin instruments (打击乐器) by mistake, but he managed t turn this inadvertent discvery int an art. Tday, his unique Braun Tube Jazz Band is famus all ver the wrld.
Wada first became interested in percussin music at the age f fur, after attending a Gamelan music perfrmance in Indnesia. With increased industry interest in il and gas leasing (租赁)in the Arctic Natinal Wildlife Refuge, strng evidence t help supprt and carry ut prtective measures fr the species has never been mre imprtant.
Wildlife managers in Alaska depend n a rule that industrial activity and research cannt take place within 1. 6 km f a den with newbrn babies in it. Wrking with 15 years f mnitring recrds, and 30 years f ntes cncerning interactins between the industry and the bears, Larsn and clleagues were able t cnfirm that the regulatin was sufficient, but that mre needed t be dne t actively lcate dens. The tasks examined varius aspects f cgnitin (认知), including planning and reasning, wrking memry, attentin, and emtin prcessing abilities. The researchers then cmpared the results against thse previusly gathered frm mre than 18, 000 members f the British public.
The findings, which were recently published, reveal that nly neursurgens shwed a significant difference, with quicker prblem-slving speed but slwer memry recall cmpared with the general ppulatin. “ The difference in prblem-slving speed exhibited by neursurgens might arise frm the fast-paced nature f neursurgery, which attracts thse with a pre-existing talent fr rapid prcessing, r it culd be, thugh less likely, a prduct f training fr rapid decisin-making in time-critical situatins, ” the researchers nted.
The researchers said the study was, in part, carried ut t lay t rest the questin f whether ne f the prfessins had the intellectual upper hand-a tensin made famus by a cmedy shw in which a cnfident neursurgen is slapped dwn by an aerspace expert wh says, “Brain surgery. . . it's nt exactly rcket science, is it?”
