I give it all to my wife to spend.W: You should think about it. That way, you'll have more money in the long run. Text 2M: How do you get your hair to be so beautiful? Do you use certain products? Or maybe it's your diet?W: I don't do anything special. I wash it in the shower like everyone else. It must be a gift I have always had. Text 3M: Baseball is so popular in my country. I’ve always preferred other sports, though.W: It barely exists where I'm from, but it doesn't look so hard.M: Well, it's actually pretty complicated if you didn't grow up watching it. It's a great sport, though. You can learn how to play it someday. Text 4M: I really appreciate my grandparents. They come over with groceries all the time. My grandmother also makes me sweaters for the winter. W: I think the older generation is very important. They have a lot of knowledge to pass on to us. Text 5W: Sarah's kids are going to stay here on the weekend. She's going to drop them off on Friday night and pick them up on Sunday night.M: As long as you're OK with that. I won't be back till the day after they leave because of my trip. Text 6M: She is just so cute. Remember when you brought her home and she was all dirty. Such a big difference now.W. I know. She' s ruined a few dresses when we go out for walks. She likes to roll over in the muddy water.M: How is she with the children? I was a bit worried. You read lots of stories about families adopting dogs only to be attacked.W: No, there is nothing like that. Honestly, she loves us, especially Tom. She's so protective of him. With Greg traveling for business all the time, I feel so much safer with her in the house. 听第7段材料,回答第8至10题Text 7M: Can you answer the phone if someone calls? I need to write up this order. It is going to take me a few minutes.W: Sure, but let me go to wash my hands first. I was just cutting up some hot peppers.M: OK. Since you are going downstairs, can you bring me up some vegetable oil from the shelf? I forgot to get it when I brought up the eggs and flour from the cupboard.W: Sure. But since we moved everything around down there, I don't know where it is. Would it be on the shelf still?M: No. I moved most things from the shelf up into the kitchen. Now that we have the extra space, I thought it would be easier to find things this way. The oil should be next to the boxes on the floor. They are right by the stairs. 听第8段材料,回答第11至13题Text 8W: Excuse me, do you know how much time is left before we land? M: About two more hours. There's a lot of rain, so our flight will be a bit rough. W: I can't stand it. I always feel so uncomfortable when flying.M: Maybe I can help. Chatting can help you calm down a bit.W: That’s very nice of you. Are you also flying home to New York?M: I'm actually just transferring at the airport to fly to Vienna. Are you going home?W: Yes, I'm meeting my family for the holidays. What are you doing in Europe?M: I'm meeting my girlfriend there. Then we'll fly back to Seattle for Christmas and New Year's Day. W: You must be so excited. Your trip sounds amazing.M: I’ve been looking forward to it for months. You must be so happy to visit your family, though.W: I am, but it's always a crazy time of the year. There's a huge group staying together, so there's always a bit of stress.M: I understand, being together with huge groups of family is so lovely but can be dramatic at times. 听第9段材料,回答第14至16题Text 9M: I don't have a huge budget, but I really want to fill this brand new apartment and make it beautiful.W: I have a lot of experience with these projects. Your budget is enough to get excellent quality and design. M: Excellent. There's nothing inside, but the space isn't very big. Will it be difficult to get the furniture inside?W: You'll need to hire a moving team or at least get a big group of your friends to help you.M: OK, first I need to bring in my bed, dressers, sofa and desk.W: I've measured your furniture, and everything will fit except your bed. M: Hopefully I can find a new one that isn't expensive. W: I'd like to advise you to start with painting the different rooms and putting art on the walls. This will provide a brighter space and will increase the value if you ever wish to sell it. M: Don't worry about that. I plan to live here for a long time. Also, my girlfriend can give me some paintings for decoration.W: I hope you understand that it'll take more than a month to have your new place ready to live in.M: If possible, I’d be happier if you could finish decorating sooner, but I can wait if it's necessary. 听第10段材料,回答第17至20题Text 10Conservation experts have warned that the COVID-19 could lead to a big increase in ocean pollution after finding protection masks floating in the water and rubber gloves littering seabeds. A French non-profit organization, whose activities include regularly picking up litter along the coast, began sounding the alarm late last month. Divers had found what Joffrey Peltier of the organization described as "COVID-19 waste" — dozens of gloves, masks and bottles of hand cleaner beneath the waves of the Mediterranean Sea. They are mixed with the usual litter of plastic cups and tin cans. The quantities of masks and gloves found were far from enormous, said Peltier. But he worried that the discovery suggested a new kind of pollution, one set to become widespread after millions of people around the world turned to single-use plastics to fight the coronavirus. Peltier said it was the promise of pollution to come if nothing was done. In France alone, authorities have ordered two billion throw-away masks, said expert Laurent Lombard, "Knowing that, soon we'll run the risk of having more masks than fish in the Mediterranean." He posted a video of a dive showing used masks and gloves in the sea. Lombard hopes the images will encourage people to wear masks that can be used more than once, and exchange rubber gloves for more frequent hand-washing."With all the alternatives, plastic isn't the solution to protect us from COVID-19. That’s the message," said Peltier.
