I. Learning objectives
By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:
- understand the usage of the following words and expressions;
2. use the words and expressions in new situations;
3. memorize some descriptive adjectives and their synonyms.

Step 1 Review
T asks Ss to review the content of the text.
【设计意图】:回归课本,回忆文章。通过篇章结构的理解引领学生到词汇上面来。
Step 2 Word study
1. unfold
(1) T asks Ss to explain unfold in the sentence from the text.
(2) T shows more examples.
(3) T asks Ss to think about the meanings of unfold in the given examples.
2. Stretch
(1) T asks Ss to explain stretch in the sentence from the text. Then T gives five examples. .
(2) Ss try to match the sentences with the meanings of stretch.
(3) Ss translate some sentences.
3. distinct
(1) T asks Ss to explain distinct in the sentence from the text, using their own words.
(2) T explains more meanings of distinct and gives one example to help Ss understand.
(3) T guides Ss to learn about distinction, distinctly, distinctive and finish the following exercises.
4. apart from
(1) T asks Ss to explain apart from and gives an example. .
(2) T guides Ss to find out more similar phrases, e.g. in addition to, as well as...
5. while
(1)T asks Ss to explain while in the sentence from the text, using their own words.
(2) T asks Ss to work in groups and find out the different usages of while in the given examples.
6. in turn
(1)T asks Ss to explain in turn in the text in their own words.
(2)T offers one more example.
7. bring about
(1) T explains the meaning of bring about in the sentence from the text.
(2) T guides Ss to think of more phrases related to bring.
(3) T asks Ss to fill in the blank with proper collocations with bring.
8. display
(1) T asks Ss to explain display in the sentence from the text.
(2) T asks Ss to translate some sentences.
(3) T gives more examples and asks Ss to explain display in these expressions.

Step 3 Sentence analysis
T guides Ss to discuss in groups and analyze the following sentences.

Step 4 Text review
T gives a summary of text and asks Ss to fill in the blanks.

V. Homework
1.Finish exercise A and B on page 57.
2.Supposing you are a tour guide, please use the words, expressions and rhetorical devices you have learnt in this article to introduce a city or tourist attraction in China.
