    Everything seemed nrmal that day. When we sat dwn t breakfast abard the USS Arizna, a bmb hit ur ship. I was frtunate t have nly minr injuries. When I gt t the deck, what I saw was terrible. Many f my friends were dead r thrwn int the sea. I tried my best t help thse wh were still alive and saved many peple’s lives. Sme peple regard me as a her, but I think heres are the nes that gave their lives that day.

    It describe the rutine f the crew’s daily life.
    What is the functin f the last sentence?
    The last sentence creates suspense because the reader’s attentin is drawn t the pssibility that it wuld nt be a nrmal day n bard the ship. The sentence als presents a sharp cntrast between the first and secnd paragraph, thus impressing the reader with the cruelty f the sudden attack. Meanwhile, it lays the grundwrk fr the fllwing paragraphs which describe the attack in detail.

    Russell describe it as “hell”. Any tpic related t the attack might awaken memries f his hrrible experience. At the same time, metaphr is used here t make the descriptin mre pwerful. The authr cmpares the Pearl Harbr attack t “hell” t emphasize the devastatin f the attack. At the same time, suspense is created, making the reader wnder what exactly happened at Pearl Harbr.

    We shuld never frget the attack n Pearl Harbr because it is a reminder f the hrrr f war. Many lives are lst in wars. Families are trn apart and thse wh survive wars are ften left with injuries t their bdies r their minds. The traumas f war make it difficult fr them t live a nrmal life after experiencing things s frightening like bmbs thundering, thing being destryed, and peple struggling. Furthermre, the attack n Pearl Harbr shuld be a reminder that maintaining peace thrughut the wrld is the nly way this kind f tragedy wuld never happen again.

    During the attack
    Hundreds f Japanese planes circled like eagles and drpped bmbs n Pearl Harbr, and ne hit the USS Arizna frm abve. Cluds f black smke rse int the sky and hung ver the sea. Russell was severely injured. Luis helped the injured nes and saved mre men frm water even after receiving the rder t abandn ship. Russell was saved and survived.
    After the attack
    The surprise attack caused a lt f deaths and lsses f ships and airplanes. The day after the attack, the US Cngress declared war n Japan, which meant that the United States jined the Secnd Wrld War.

    Tday, the USS Arizna lies where it sank and its lcatin is marked with a memrial shaped like a bridge. Each year, mre than tw millin peple visit the memrial. Peple will never frget the attack n Pearl Harbr, ne f the darkest episdes in American histry.
