    picture card, pictures f a dg, a bird and a cat. Animal wrd cards, headband, paper, scissrs, glue

    Lessn 1 Stry & Vcabulary
    Getting ready
    1. bring in pictures f a dg and a cat. First, shw the picture f
    a dg.
    2. T: Is this a dg? Repeat. Is this a dg?
    3. Next shw the picture f a cat.
    4. T: Is this a dg? Repeat. N, it isn’t.
    Using the bk
    T: Open yur bks. ( Pint t the dg. ) Is this a dg?
    T: Is this a bird?
    T: Let’s listen.
    Play the tape, pausing after each expressin t have Ss repeat.
    Divide the class int tw grups.
    One grup takes the rle f Gg and the ther half Tny.
    Have each grup repeat after the T.
    Vcabulary
    Getting ready
    T: Lk at the pictures. Listen and pint. Whale.
    Cntinue with the rest f the vcabulary pinting t the pictures ne by ne.
    Using the bk
    T: Listen t the tape and repeat.
    Play the tape and have Ss repeat each wrd.
    Pint t the picture f panda.
    T: Panda. Repeat. Panda.
    Pint t the ther pictures at randm and have Ss say the wrd.

    Cntinue and substitute with different animals.

    Have Ss lk at the first picture.
    Pint t Gg, then Tny. Mdel the dialg.
    Repeat with the secnd picture.
    T: Listen t the tape and repeat.
    Have Ss rle play in pairs.
    Handwriting: Is this a bird? Yes,it is./N,it isn’t.

    Pint t Picture B withut saying anything and mtin t half the class t ask the questin. Mtin t the ther half f the class t answer. Cntinue this activity fr Picture C.

    T: Nw, listen t the tape.
    Play the tape fr number 1 and then pause.
    T: Which picture is it? Write number 1.
    Cntinue with the rest f the numbers.

    Getting ready
    Using the Picture Cards f the key vcabulary, cver up a prtin f the picture, revealing nly a small bdy part: eyes, muth, ears, etc.
    T: Is this a ( lin )?
    Using the bk
    Have Ss lk at the pictures.
    T: This time, listen t the tape and answer.
    Play the tape fr Picture A and have Ss answer in unisn.
    Cntinue with B and C.

    Getting ready
    Make ne f the animal sunds.
    T: Mew, mew. Is this a cat?
    T: Ruff, ruff. Is this a bird?
    Cntinue teaching all the animal sunds t Ss the same way.

    T: Let’s sing. Listen t the tape.
    Play the tape.
    T: This time, pint t the picture when yu hear the wrd.
    Mdel by pinting t the pictures while singing.
    Play the tape.
    T: This time, let’s sing tgether.
    Play the tape and sing alng.

    Cntinue in this way, but allw vlunteers t make the questins.

    If it is an incrrect match. Ss put an “X” in the bx.
