动词be在一般现在时中有三种形式，即am/is/are。动词be在句子中的具体形式随着主语的人称和数的变化而变化。
I am=I’m　　　 yu are=yu’re he is=he’sshe is=she’s　　 it is=it’s what is=what’sname is=name’s is nt=isn’t are nt=aren’t
英语中的be动词在某些名词、代词及副词之后可以用缩写形式。
但要注意，并非任何情况下be动词都能缩写。
【温馨提示】不可以缩写的情况① am nt不可以缩写；② this is不可以缩写，thse / these are也没有缩 写形式；③在肯定的简略回答中不可以缩写，如“Yes, I am. ”不可以写成“Yes, I’m ” 。
如：— Is this a bus? — Yes, it is.（不能说Yes, it’s.） — Are yu a student? — Yes, I am. （不能说Yes, I’m.）
