状语从句（Adverbial Clause） 是指句子用作状语时，起副词作用的句子。 状语从句根据其作用可分为时间、地点、原因、条件、目的、结果等从句。 状语从句一般由连词(从属连词)引导，也可以由词组引起。
While Jhn was watching TV, his wife was cking. （时间状语从句）当约翰看电视时，他的妻子正在做饭。He didn’t attend classes yesterday because he was ill. （原因状语从句）他病了，所以他昨天没有来上课。He gt up s early that he caught the first bus. （目的状语从句）他很早起床以便赶上第一班公共汽车。We’ll start ur prject if the president agrees. （条件状语从句） 如果总统同意，我们将开始我们的项目。
if引导的条件状语从句
在复合句中作条件状语的句子叫条件状语从句。 条件状语从句常用if来引导。If从句既可放在主句前，也可放在主句后。放在主句前，要用“,”与后面的主句隔开。
1.含条件状语从句的复合句中主从句的时态 主句为以下情况之一时，条件状语从句用一般现在时：①主句是一般将来时。If it desn’t rain tmrrw, we will g t the z. ②主句谓语部分含有情态动词（may, might, can, must, shuld等）。If yu eat bad fd, yu may fall ill.③主句为祈使句。If the light is red, wait fr a minute.
2. 有些句子可与含if条件状语句互相转换。①祈使句 + and/r + 陈述句。Hurry up, r yu’ll miss the train. = If yu dn’t hurry up, yu’ll miss the train.Yu will be healthier if yu eat well. = Eat well and yu will be healthier.
