    Do you still remember what modal verbs are?
    Modal verbs show the condition of a verb — e.g. ability, necessity, possibility — and must always be used with a main verb.
    Can you list all the modal verbs you can remember?
    e.g. may, might, must, will, would, can, could, shall, should, need, ought to
    Use “must” to show that something you think is probably true. Use “might” or “could” to show that you think something is possibly true. Use “can’t” to show that you are almost sure something is not true.

    Bob: Hey, look! Whose schoolbag do you think this is? Anna: I don’t know. Look, here’s a school T-shirt.  Bob: Well then, the person must go to our school. Oh! Here is a hair  band, so the person can’t be a boy.  Anna: It could be Mei’s hair band. She has long hair. Bob: Or the hair band might belong to Linda. She was at the picnic, wasn’t she? 
    Anna: Yes, she was. But then the schoolbag could belong to Rita. She’s always forgetting things. Bob: Oh, look! Tennis balls. Anna: Then it must be Linda’s schoolbag. She has long hair and she’s on the tennis team. Bob: You’re right!

I’ll call them now to check if anybody has it.

    Suppose you and your friend find a book (or something else) in the cafeteria and you need to find the owner. Make a conversation and make inference about who the book belongs to.

    valuable adj. 贵重的;很有用的;宝贵的
    辨析: valuable与worth
    e.g. The job gave me a lot of valuable experience. 这份工作我许多宝贵的经给了验。 The book is very valuable to me. 这本书对我来说很有价值。 This book is well worth reading. 这本书很值得读。
    *valuable作表语时可与介词to构成短语be valuable to sb.,意思是“对某人来说有价值”。
    I think somebody must have picked it up. (教材P58)
    pick up有很多意思,常见的有“拾起;捡起”“(开车)接人”。pick up是典型的“动副型”短语,代词it / them作宾语时,要放在pick与up中间。
    e.g. Kate found some waste paper on the floor. She picked it up and threw it in the dustbin. Kate在地上发现了一些废纸。她把它捡起来丢进了垃圾桶。 I’ve just come to pick Tony up. 我是来接Tony的。
