June 6th is National Eye Care Day. It is a good chance for us to improve our eye health. What are common eye problems we have today? How can we protect our eyes? Read on to find out the answer.
Eyes are important in our everyday life. We use them to read books, see colors and the wonders of the world. But sometimes, we use them too much and it hurts them. In the past, nearsightedness (近视) was a common eye problem among children. This is mostly because of their bad eye habits, such as watching TV too long and reading books in bed.
However, today’s technology is changing the way we live. Children spend more time working and playing in front of computers, smartphones and iPads. This has caused a new problem for our eyes: digital (数字的) eyestrain (眼疲劳). People with digital eyestrain may get headaches, dry and red eyes, eye pain, watering and other eye problems.
But don’t worry. The following tips can help you protect your eyes. Try them out.
1. When you are watching electronic screens, keep them at least 30 cm from your eyes. Try not to use your smartphone in direct sunlight.
2. Blink (眨眼) often when you are looking at the screen. This can help to stop dry eyes.
3. Remember to take a 20-20-20 break: every 20 minutes, take a 20-second break and look at something 20 feet (about 6 meters) away.

Singing Taylor Swift’s song up in bed, I am thinking about my biggest plan to get away from the school. I do think it’s done and failed.
I have tried many ways to be ill. Yes, many.
To get a cold easily, I once wore a T-shirt when the temperature dropped rapidly last week; I also enjoyed my solo (独奏;独演) walking in the heavy rain a couple of days ago. Unluckily, nothing great for me has happened.
My most stupid try took place after Tom’s story telling. Tom once told me that a boy in his class had a good idea when he didn’t like school. He warmed up the thermometer (温度计) until it got 39°C . After that, he quickly put it into his mouth and his mom thought he was really ill. I believed that boy was Tom himself because Tom was absent (缺席) for a few days not long ago .
This morning I did try that. In the beginning, I put the thermometer in my hand to heat it up but it never went up to 35°C.So I held the thermometer to my desk light. To my joy, it quickly went to 60°C.I thought it was the chance to put it in my mouth and walk to my mom.
However, nobody ever told me 60°C was so hot that I could not stand the time of finding my excuse, I gave up half way for cold water for my burned mouth.
Now I can’t talk and I have to think of another bigger plan to win my parents back.

A.being absent from school B.warming up the thermometer
C.telling a story D.walking to my mom
31.The writer’s last sentence can tell us that ________.
A.his parents worry about him B.his parents are very angry
C.he won money from his parents D.can’t find his parents
Imagine a school where students don’t put on plays, paint pictures or sing and dance. This may come true if the school board cannot balance (均衡) its cost. To save money, the board has taken action and advised some city high schools to cut all their arts cost. While we must balance the cost and should not spend more than we have, we should try to look for the money in others ways. Visual (视觉的) and performing arts are a necessary part of our children’s education.
For many students, art has helped them stay interested in school. Tara Sossa, for example, is a West High student who had planned to drop out as soon as she turned sixteen. A few months before her sixteenth birthday, an art teacher asked her to take part in oil painting. This opened up a bright new world to her. Little by little, she built self-confidence and she stayed at school. Then she got a job at a magazine.
▲ Learning arts mean to learn problem-solving skills. Learning acting helps students learn about teamwork. Learning dancing helps students learn the meaning of hard work.
Besides, the arts encourage innovation ability and creative thinking. These are qualities young people need. So the arts are as necessary to students learning as other subjects.
32.Put the events about Tara Sossa in the right order according to the passage.
a. She entered a bright new world. b. She planned to drop, out of school.
c. She built self-confidence and stayed. d. She was asked to take part in oil painting.

C.The arts can also make students learn better. D.The arts can also help students to be artists.
34.The underlined word “innovation” in the last paragraph probably means________.
A.表达 B.创新 C.应变 D.自理
35.The best title of the passage is ________.
A.The Importance of Learning Arts B.The Way to Learn Arts

You probably know many of the things that you can do with the hundreds of different muscles (肌肉) in your body. But have you ever thought about how the muscles in an animal’s body are different from yours? Do you know an animal’s muscles are used to do the most important things for its life?
Lions are hunters. They depend on their ability to catch other animals. Lions must be fast in order to catch their prey (猎物). The strong muscles in their back legs allow them to run at speeds of more than 30 miles per hour. They can also jump more than 35 feet. The strong muscles in their front legs help them catch their prey.
Snakes also use their muscles for hunting prey and for movement, but their muscles work in very different ways than lions do. Because snakes do not have any legs, they use their muscles to push against the ground or other objects to move themselves forward. Their muscles also allow them to eat things that seem much too large. For example, snake may eat an egg that is larger than the width of its body. How does this happen? The snake’s strong neck muscles work together to push the egg down the mouth.
The elephant’s long nose has a lot of muscles. Scientists believe that the nose alone has more than 100, 000 muscles! This is because the elephant uses its nose much in the same way. That people use their hands and fingers. Even though the nose is large, it can perform surprisingly tasks. For example, an elephant can pick up a small leaf from the ground. The nose can also be a powerful tool. An elephant can use its nose to pick up a tree by its roots or even to lift a baby elephant
The great muscles of these animals seem pretty unbelievable and shocking. But the muscles in your body work right the way you need them to. After all, it might be fun to be able to jump a distance of 30 feet, but as a human being, there is just not much need for it.
36.The writer starts the passage by ________.
A.telling a story B.giving an example C.raising questions D.comparing the facts
37.According to the passage, we can infer (推断) that ________.
A.an elephant’s nose is strong enough to pick up a tree by its roots
B.the strong muscles in the back legs help lions catch their prey
C.snakes can’t move themselves forward without their muscles
D.muscles in an animal’s body are more useful than a human’s
38.From the passage, we know ________ make(s) the muscles in your body different from an animal’s.
A.the exercise B.your parents C.the environment D.your needs
39.Which of the following shows the structure (结构) of the passage? (P=Paragraph)
A. B. C. D.
