    There was an earthquake this mrning. I was wrking in frnt f my cmputer when it hit the city. The quake started with a sudden lud nise. I thught that smething heavy in a neighbr's huse prbably had fallen. Hwever, the walls and the flr began t shake. I finally realized it was an earthquake.
    My sn Zac, a sixteen­year­ld by, was sleeping with his dr lcked. Being sixteen, he can sleep thrugh any kind f nise. “Zac!” I shuted. “Are yu OK?” But nbdy replied. I was a little wrried. I culdn't imagine that smene was able t get such a deep sleep. The huse was dancing. There were waves in the swimming pl. I was afraid the huse wuld cme dwn. “Zac!” I yelled, kncking n his dr with an pen palm (手掌). “Zac! Wake up! It's an earthquake! We need t get ut!”
    My sn finally emerged in his underpants. We lked arund the rm. I knew that we shuld hide under a table t stp things frm falling n us and stay away frm glass. Unfrtunately, nne f ur furniture was designed fr hiding under. “Shuld we g int the garden?” Zac asked. “N, trees culd fall n us!” I said. Actually, Zac had dne earthquake drills (训练) at schl. He must have been tld t hide under a desk and cver his head. But we had nthing t cver ur heads in the huse.
    Luckily, befre we tk any actin, the windws stpped mving and the pl calmed dwn. Everything went back t nrmal sn. But bth my sn and I knew what we shuld d, because we knew if there had been a really big earthquake this mrning, we culdn't have escaped frm it.

The bsses ften knw their staff very well and understand their persnal needs. Emplyees f small cmpanies are mre likely t receive free meals, paid leave, and they can even bring their pets t wrk.
    But f curse, there're many ther draws in small businesses. One f the tp draws is flexible scheduling (弹性工时). Anther is being able t really see the fruits f ne's labr. Besides, nn­cash award is als a big draw. This culd be smething small that reflects emplyees' interests and lifestyles.
    While a parental leave might lead t sme financial prblems, small cmpanies may d smething t imprve it. “It may be impssible fr a five­persn team t be reduced t fur fr six mnths,” writes Camilla Velasquez, head f HR management platfrm Justwrks. “But it culd be pssible t allw new parents t take n reduced hurs in a wrk­frm­hme envirnment.” This kind f methd has been realized in sme small cmpanies.
