    T: Yesterday we learned the target language and reviewed sme grammar. Nw wh can make sentences using the grammar we reviewed yesterday.

    This activity prvides reading practice u-sing the target language. Shw the key vcabulary wrds n the screen by a prjectr.
    Read the wrds and ask students t re-peat again and again until they can prnunce the wrds fluently and accurately. G thrugh the instructins with the whle class.
    Invite a student t read the letter t the class. Crrect any prnunciatin errrs t make sure the student is prviding a gd mdel fr the rest f the class.
    Get students t read the letter n their wn again and underline the reasns why the writer is ppsed t zs.
    Check the answers with the class.

    The animals are kept in tiny cages and can hardly mve at all.
    And they are nly given fd nce a day.

    Ask students t read the letter again. Then finish the wrk n their wn r in pairs. When they wrk, walk arund the classrm, checking the prgress f the pairs and ffering help as needed.
    Check the answers. Answers will vary but a gd letter will take the pints frm the letter ppsite t their pint f view and argue with them.

    G thrugh the instructins with the class. There will be tw different teams. One team will talk abut why zs are gd places fr animals and the ther team will say why zs are bad paces fr animals.
    Lk at the list f expressins. Invite a student t read the list alud t the class. Then get sme students t use each expressin in a cmplete sentence.
    S1 : I think that elephants shuldn’t be kept in zs.

    Put students in tw teams. Let each team wrk tgether as they write dwn sme statements shwing their viewpint, using the expressins in the bx.
    Lk at the sample language in the bx. Invite a pair f students t read it t the class.

    Ask the tw teams t debate in class.
    First, call n ne team t give a statement. Then ask the ther team t give a statement that is related t the first statement. Help the teams make several different statements abut a single pint befre ging n t anther pint.

    Team 2: Why d yu think s?
    Team 1: Because animals there are nly given fd nce a day. They’re hungry.
