形容性物主代词是物主代词的一种(另一种为人称代词),置于名词前,起修饰作用,表示“某人的”。

汉语表达常有省略“的”字的习惯,如:我哥哥、你妈妈。其中“我”和“你”的实际意义分别是“我的”、“你的”,所以英语中只能译成my brther, yur mther;而不能译成 I brther, yu mther。
