    Unit 8 English Week全英教学设计

    课题

    Lesson 1 - Reading and writing

    教学目标

    - Ss will get involved in the English Day project. Experience Learning by doing.

    教学重点

    - Ss get involved in the English Day project. They are the center of the class.

    教学难点

    - Motivate Ss get involved in a project.

    - Ss experience to use English as tools.

    - Ss experience learning by doing. The PPT will be only used as a guide, or reference. Everything will be decided by Ss.

    - Experience project based learning and group working.

    - Importantly, T should be able to spot difficulties and problems. T should be able to guide Ss, but not do for them. Give them suggestions.

    教学过程

    1. Warm up (3-5 mins)

    Watch a talent show

     

    1.  Read the article to explore what we need to do.

    We are going to read the text book first. Let Ss discuss, what is the article talks about? In their discussion should include:
    - English Week event. (T can discuss deeper with Ss about, from the article, what is it for? )

    - English only event

    - In the event, there are different activities.

    - games ( treasure hunt), competition, English plays, song singing.

    - Somebody won in the speaking competition.

    - From the principal’s speech, he suggests Ss use English as much as possible.

     

    1. Learning by doing - English Day Project

    We are going to learn this unit by doing. Which means, Ss, you are going to arrange an English Day event. And you are the master. Everyone should get involved in the project. Each one of you have your job. You can choose the job you like. And importantly, we have a time limitation. Our target is to proceed this English day in the final class on xxxx (a date).

     

    First of all, We need to know what you need to do for the project. I would like to introduce the process of this project : T can print out the process and stick on the blackboard. Or use a special board for it. Since we will need to keep it till the event finally begins.

    1. You need to confirm activities for the event.
    2. We need to confirm what we need to do in every single activity.
    3. We need to assign Ss in different jobs.
    4. Ss need to enjoy the event. If you want to proceed in a play, you need to arrange it and rehearsal.
    5. We need to set a time frame in order to meet our target date.

     

    We’ve known the steps. Discuss with Ss about the time frame first. Then put it next to the process chart.

     

    We need to discuss what activities will be happened in the English day? Once we confirmed, we need to make an announcement to let the whole school or your parents know. And invite them to join with us.

    In our reading, we can consider:

    -English games

    - Plays

    - competitions.

     

    You can think of more based on our previous learning. We’ve learned how to do a presentation, debate, news report, drama plays, tong twister, ......

    Can we make these to be our interesting events?

     

    On PPT P 7-11, there are some suggestions. T explains what do we do with these activities. (Through the introduction, Ss acquire new words naturally. T doesn’t have to teach pronunciation, spelling, usages...) Ss can take it as a reference. They can think of more. We can change them based on Ss idea.

     

    Divide Ss in groups. Ss brain storm what activity they would like to have.

    T’s guide: Ss should choose at least 4 different events. For example, Ss should NOT choose 4 song singings. The format should be different.

     

    Let students jot down their ideas on the post it. And stick on the blackboard. Vote to decide the final events.

     

    Let say: Speech competition, plays, game, and talent show.

     

    T can use the PPT 7-10 to discuss what they can do for each activities.

    -Competitions - confirm the topic of the competitions

    - Plays: What play will be chosen? How many people are required? Who would like to attend?  How to practice?

    - Games : What kind of game? How to play?

    - Talent show: Who will perform?

    Ss has basic idea about what they need to do.

    --- In this process, Ss will find out, they need to have Ss volunteer to take part in. If Ss raise questions like who want to attend? How can we ask Ss to do it. T can suggest Ss to make a poster to invite Ss to join.  

     

    Today’s task is to finish an announcement. T shows some examples. In the announcement, should include these information:

    - Name of the event (If you can come out with an attractive slogan that will be super excellent.)

    - Time

    - Address

    - What make it interesting?

     

    Can be creative to attract readers to attend.

     

    Give time to Ss to handle it in groups.

     

    - Ss might ask who will perform in the talent show?  Who would like to act the play?  T can suggest them make a sign-up form.  This task can be done in the next class.

     

     

    1. Summary(5 mins)

            We read the text book to have an idea about an English week event.

            We learned that every project should have a process.

            Team work is important. We cannot run such a big project by oneself.

            We need to compromise if needed.

            Time is crucial for a project.

            Group work needs a lot of communication.

    板书设计

     -Make the process on the board.

    - Allow students use the blackboard to do brainstorming.

    课后作业

    - Finish “announcement” design by groups and share to the class.

    教学反思

            During the process, T doesn’t have to teach new words. T only needs to use the word, show Ss what it is. Ss will be able to focus. They acquire  very soon.

            Ss will come out with questions. T will provide suggestions.

            Most important thing is Ss are the center. They make decisions. T doesn’t do anything for them.
