The most important festival was held every four years at the town of Olympia. It was held in honour of the Greek god Zeus. For five days, athletes from all parts of the Greek world took part in the Olympic Games. At the Olympic Games, people could watch them box, run, jump and so on. There was a relay race between two teams of men in which a lighted torch (火炬) was passed from runner to runner. As years went by, I realized that one of the biggest problems of these adults was worry. A large majority of students were businessmen, executives, salesmen, engineers, accountants:a cross section of all the trades and professions—and most of them had problems! There were women in the classes—businesswomen and housewives. They, too, had problems! Clearly, what I needed was a textbook on how to conquer worry—so again I tried to find one.
I went to New York’s great public library at Fifth Avenue and Fortysecond Street and discovered, to my astonishment, that this library had only twentytwo books listed under the title WORRY. I also noticed, to my amusement, that it had one hundred and eightynine books listed under WORMS. Almost nine times as many books about worms as about worry! Surprising, isn’t it? Since worry is one of the biggest problems facing mankind, you would think, wouldn’t you, that every high school and college would give a course on “How to Stop Worrying”?
Yet, is there even one course on that subject in any college in the land? I have never heard of it. No wonder David Seabury said in his book How to Worry Successfully:“We grow up with as little preparation for the pressures of experience as a bookworm asked to do a ballet (芭蕾舞).”
The result? More than half of our hospital beds are occupied by people with nervous and emotional troubles.
I looked over those twentytwo books on worry, reposing(靠) on the shelves of the New York Public Library. In addition, I purchased all the books on worry I could find;yet I couldn’t discover even one that I could use as a textbook in my course for adults. So I decided to write one by myself.
- What made the writer realize one of the adults’ biggest problems?
- His wide reading.
- His practical survey.
- His scientific research.
- His students’ real situation.
- What do David Seabury’s words in Paragraph 3 show?
- Worry is extremely common.
- We lack knowledge of worry.
- We show no interest in worry.
- Worry can hardly be controlled.
- The writer wrote the passage to .
- show us how to conquer worry
- warn us of the possible danger of worry
- persuade us to get rid of worry
- explain why he wanted to write a book on worry
In the world nothing is more important than health. If people took away our money, houses, cars, or even our clothes, we could still survive. 31 Then how can we keep healthy?
First of all, we should eat healthily. I usually avoid eating food high in fat, like French fries or cookies, which are junk food. 32 I only eat little meat. 33 It helps us build a strong body. Regular exercise is an important part of keeping me healthy. In addition, I think friends are an important part of one’s health. 34 I always feel better when I am with friends than when I am alone. When I am with my friends, I always laugh. Laughing is also an important part of health. It is good to stay with my friends.
By eating properly and exercising regularly, I can keep my body at a proper weight and keep healthy. By spending time with my friends, I can keep my mind as well as my body happy. These things sound easy to do, but not many people can manage them. 35 .
- What’s more, taking exercise is very important.
- Some people appear fat because they often eat too much.
- I think a strong will is necessary if we want to keep fit.
- I eat a lot of vegetables and fresh fruits which are full of vitamins.
- There are some people who like staying alone, but they keep healthy.
- But if our health were taken away, we could surely die.
- Many studies show that people with few friends often get sick.

Hello, everyone. It's nice to speak about that we can do for our school, and I think small actions can make big difference. The first thing we can do is to make our campus more beautifully. Every one of them may plant a tree in the school or to organize a thorough cleaning on the campus. We can also form a good habit of putting rubbishes into trashcans. Never forget to turn off the lights and close the doors. We should not leave the tap water run or waste any materials in the laboratory class. In that case, I believe we'll turn our school in a better place to study and live in. How I wish we can enjoy a better school life!

固定短语make a big difference表示“对……有很大的影响,对……很重要”。故make后加a。
此处用形容词作宾语补足语,make our campus more beautiful。
故them改为us。
根据本句句意及逻辑关系可知,turn off the lights和close the doors为选择关系应用or。故and改为or。
变成”,故in改为into。
故can改为could。
