Engineer Wei Li f Stanfrd University and clleagues tested a 20centimeter prttype (雏形) f the device n a clear December night in Stanfrd. The generatr prduced up t abut 25 milliwatts f pwer per square meter f the device—enugh t light a small LED r light bulb. The team believes that further design imprvements culd increase prductin up t at least 0. 5 watts per square meter. The pwer prductin is much less than slar panels，but enugh fr emergency backup pwer.
