I was in the seventh grade, and we had moved to New Jersey in November. By then, everyone already had had their own friends, and no one wanted to talk to a new girl. To make things worse, they put me in “Section L”. I found out later that everyone called Section L “Loserville”. It was sort of an open secret that it was the section for troublemakers and notsosmart kids. When I found out, I wanted to scream. I had always been a good student and had amazing friends, and now everyone thought I was a loser!
I did text my friends in Illinois almost every night, especially my best friend, Ana. At first my friends wanted to hear all about it. But then some stopped texting back once I said something about how miserable I was. One night when I was texting with Ana,I complained about another friend who had just done that. Ana's texts came really fast for the next few minutes and they surprised me. She said that she was tired of hearing about how bad everything was in New Jersey, too. She said she did not want to hurt my feelings but that I needed to stop feeling so sorry for myself all the time, and I had to try to make things better.
The next day, I thought a lot about what Ana had said. She was right!
I wish I could say that everything changed overnight after that, but it didn't. I was still stuck in “Loserville”, and some people were still mean (苛刻) to me,even though I tried to just stay out of their way.
But what did change was me—I stopped feeling so sorry for myself and did something about making friends. I signed up to make sets for the school play. I met a lot of new people there, and suddenly I had friends to say hi to in the halls!
I still miss Illinois sometimes, but life in New Jersey isn't so hard anymore. Even though I couldn't change my situation, I could change my attitude—and that made all the difference.
24.“Loserville” is a section for ________.
A.smart students B.low achievers
C.class leaders D.new comers
25.The writer complained all the time in the new environment because ________.
A.Ana didn't text back to her
B.she was a good student
C.her friends hurt her feelings
D.she was unfairly treated
26.What made a difference in changing the situation?
A. She managed to go back to Illinois.
B. She ended the friendship with Ana.
C. She began to make friends with others.
D. She fought back with her classmates.
27.What can be the best title for the passage?
A. Everlasting Friendship
B. Say Goodbye to “Loserville”
C. An Incident at School
D. Unhappiness in “Loserville”
C
A bargain is something offered at a low and advantageous price. A more recent definition is: a bargain is a dirty trick to force money out of the pockets of silly and innocent people.
The cost of producing a new—for example—toothpaste would make 80p the proper price for it, so we will market it at $1.20. It is not a bad toothpaste, and as people like to try new things, it will sell well to start with; but the attraction of novelty soon fades, so sales will fall. When that happens, we will reduce the price to $1.15. And we will turn it into a bargain by printing 5p OFF all over it.
Sometimes it is not 5p OFF but 1p OFF. What breathtaking rudeness to advertise 1p OFF your soap or washing powder or whatever! Even the poorest oldage pensioner ought to regard this as an insult (侮辱), but he doesn't. A bargain must not be missed. People say one has to have washing powder (or whatever) and one might as well buy it a penny cheaper.
The real danger starts when unnecessary things become “bargains”. Many people just cannot resist bargains. Provided they think they are getting a bargain, they will buy clothes they will never wear or furniture they have no space for. Once I heard of a man who bought an electric saw as a bargain and cut off two of his fingers the next day. But he had no regrets: the saw had been truly cheap.
Quite a few people actually believe that they make money on such bargains. A lady once told me:“I've had a lucky day today. I bought a dress for $120, reduced from $400; and I bought a beautiful Persian carpet for $600, reduced from $900.” It will never occur to her that she has actually wasted $720. She feels as though she had made $580. She also feels, I am sure, that if she had more time for shopping, she could make a living out of it.
Some people buy in large quantities because it is cheaper. Once a couple bought enough sugar for their lifetime and the lifetime of their children and grandchildren. They thought it a bargain not to be missed. When the sugar arrived, they didn't know where to store it—until they realized that their toilet was a very spacious one. So that was where they piled up their sugar. Not only did their guests feel rather strange whenever they were offered sugar to put into their coffee, but the toilet became extremely sticky.
To offer bargains is a commercial trick to make the poor poorer. When greedy fools fall for this trick, it serves them right.

31.Which statement will the author probably agree with?

Friends play a very important part in everyone's life. Friendship usually develops during childhood. New friends are made when you progress through school. Those friends that you make as a student can usually last long. Friends influence your development, maturity (成熟) and sense of responsibility (责任). A familiar opinion is “You can tell a lot about a person by knowing who his friends are.” Friendship is based on common interests. If you like sports, most of your friends are likely to be active. If you enjoy reading and shopping, most of your friends do the same.
Some people call you their friends for the wrong reasons. These people are not really friends. They are superficial (表面的), only “friends” on the outside, not the inside where it counts. Superficial friends only want to be your friends if it is to their advantage. True friends are there whether you are rich or poor. It is easy to have many socalled____“friends” if you are rich. By this time you should be able to recognize your friends as the real or the “phoney”.
True friends are most special. Sometimes they might not be easy to find, so you can consider yourself very lucky if you have one true friend. This friend is eager to help you whenever necessary. He or she knows you would do the same for them. A true friend is someone you can talk to about any subject or problem. You and your true friend have good understanding of each other. True friends support you, take your side, and build up your confidence.
32.What's the main idea of the first paragraph?
A.How to make true friends.
B.What friendship is based on.
C.We should make friends in our childhood.
D.Friends play a very important role in our life.
33.Which of the following is TRUE according to the passage?
A.It is easy to have many true friends if you are rich.
B.If you have no music in you, none of your friends will be a music lover.
C.The friendship developing during your school days will be with you for a long time.
D.What you value above anything is the friendship developing during childhood.
34.What does the underlined phrase “socalled ‘friends’” in Paragraph 2 probably mean?
A.Friends in need.
B.Fairweather friends.
C.Those who can help you.
D.Those who often give you money.
35.What's the author's attitude towards “true friends”according to Paragraph 3?
A.True friends are too difficult to find.
B.You can only share sadness with a true friend.
C.You can only share happiness with a true friend.
D.True friends will stand by you whatever happens.

The bell rang, announcing the end of the vivid art class Karson loved most. He was delighted that he had created a very satisfying work. So he walked to the back of the classroom to put his work away carefully. There, lying on the floor in front of the classroom bookcase, was a golden ticket! Karson picked it up. His heart beat faster when he saw that the name line was blank. He couldn't believe his luck!
The boys and girls in Karson's class could earn golden tickets by doing well in their study or by being extra helpful or kind. Once a week their teacher drew a ticket out of the box on her desk and let the winner choose a prize.
Today was the golden ticket drawing, and here was another ticket, just for him! Karson looked around. No one else was near the ticket. All his classmates were at their desks, laughing and talking with each other. Miss Evans was engaged in grading the papers collected earlier in the morning.
Karson decided to write his name on the blank line. Then he could put it into the prize box with the six tickets he'd already earned. With so many chances, one of his tickets would most probably be picked! Then he could choose the pink toy pig for his sister's birthday, just like he had been hoping.
He smiled and reached for the pencil in his pocket. Suddenly his fingers stopped. There was a strange feeling in his chest, and it wasn't his heartbeat. It was “Finders, keepers”, right? He wondered. He looked out of the window and tried to figure it out. On the one hand, he did find the ticket, but he hadn't earned it. Somebody must have lost it. But on the other hand, he did need this extra ticket for his great plan!
注意:1.续写词数应为150左右;
2.请按如下格式作答。
Karson stared at the blank name line for a moment._______________________________
