Refusing to give up at this point, he jumped to his feet and ran as fast as he could. He dashed across the finish line and won the fourth prize. Thinking he would let her sister down, Ali couldn’t help sobbing. Just then he suddenly heard the announcement from the broadcast that he won the third prize as the runner who collided with Ali was disqualified for breaking the rule. Holding the shoes close to his chest during the award ceremony, Ali felt overjoyed and relieved as he eventually won the shoes for his sister.Paragraph 2:Filled with pleasure , Ali walked home quickly. He could not wait to see his sister and share the good news. On his arrival, Ali found Zahra was waiting outside. Nervous and anxious, Zahra wondered whether her brother had brought her what she was expecting.“ Zahra, see what I have got for you.” Ali said excitedly, taking the prize out of his bag with his trembling hands. The instant Zahra saw the shoes, her face lit up. So thrilled was she that she threw herself at Ali.“ Thank you! Ali.” Tears of joy welled up in their eyes as the brother and the sister hugged tightly together. Ali looked up and saw the other boys rushing ahead开头,所以承接前文可知,本段是续写比赛中 Ali 被撞后是如何赢得想要的鞋子的,这一段是文章的关键。 Distinguished Figures in Hubei During a Century My daughter, Mia, is 16 and learning to drive.(我的女儿米娅16岁,正在学开车)和第二段First, Mia didn’t know how to drive at all. She didn’t even know where to put the key. I also enjoy the one-on-one time we have together. We have some good conversations. So far, we have covered her friends’ hairstyles and how stressed she feels after school. I enjoyed communicating with her. 故选A项。26. I yelled, yanking the hand brake (手刹). We stopped the car and sat in the dark for a minute. “You can’t go that fast,” I said. “You don’t know enough yet.” I put my hand on her head, “I don’t want anything to happen to you.” Despite these things, I’ve also learned that I enjoy teaching her. I think I’m pretty good at it. I am much calmer than I thought I would be. Every year , hundreds of thousands of seabirds die when they get caught in gillnets. Some estimates suggest that up to a half-milion birds are caught in them each year. Over the years, researchers have created devices to prevent the birds from trying to catch fish near or in gillnets, but those didn’t work well.” They made the eyes big enough so that even birds with poor eyesight, such as geese, would see them. 故选A 项。30. 通读全文,尤其是文章第一段... has created a type of buoy(浮标)that has proven to be effective at frightening seabirds, thus preventing them from getting caught in gilnets ... I’ll simply say, “I’ m joking.”(我会直白的说,我在开玩笑。) Forget the themed paper invitations; they get thrown away almost immediately anyway. Try using a basic email or phone call to create your guest list.(尝试使用一个基本的电子邮件或电话来创建你的客人名单。) Stay away from them altogether, including balloons. If you must decorate, choose some reusable, classic decorations that can be pulled out every single year, such as colored lights. So you should put out only what is necessary, rather than ending up with loads of leftovers that are potentially ruined by the kids.(所以你应该把必要的东西拿出来,而不是最后剩一堆食物可能会被孩子们毁掉。) My kids have gone to several “toonie parties” (a toonie is a two-dollar coin in Canada), where each guest gives two dollars in their card and that money can be used by the birthday child to buy a single toy. It’s a great idea for reducing waste and making a child’s birthday wishes come true. In other words, you don’t need to worry about it not feeling like a birthday. They will create a party feeling without much assistance from parents. A. insist坚持;B. In America, May and June are the traditional months for graduations. A listener in China, Wang Ming, who is about to get an engineering degree, wants to know how American college graduates find jobs. Right now, the answer is: not very easily. A latest study on the college job market showed that employers wanted to hire 22% fewer graduates this year than last. The study also showed that just 20% of those who looked for jobs before graduation have found one by now. This is compared to half of students who had looked for a job by this time two years ago. But one difference: fewer of this year’s graduates have started to search for jobs. Engineering graduates were more likely to have started their job search already, and to have accepted a job. This is among the best-paid professions for people with just a college degree. On average, engineering majors expect to start at about $62,000 a year.
