Ss guess what a, b, c and d refer to. 通过读图，猜测文章主题，获取图示大致信息，培养学生良好的读图能力。阅读图示，猜测文章主题，并回答问题。While-reading10’1. Ss listen to the recording. They check if they guess them right and get to know the circles of friends. 帮助学生熟悉单词发音、语调和节奏等语音知识，了解朋友圈的4层分类。聆听文章，验证答案，熟悉朋友圈的大致分类。2. Ss read the passage and work in groups to write down the information by using key words. 3-5: __________15: __________50: __________100: __________寻找文章的细节信息，提炼关键词，培养学生扫读的阅读策略和分析归纳的能力。根据要求，准确提炼关键词，记录信息。3. T writes down the above key words, like “very close, not … often, a bit, regularly, recognize” and introduces the chart: (1) The topic “circles of friends” is placed in the center of the chart.(2) The circular chart consists of 4 categories according to the degree of intimacy of a relationship.(3) The chart makes the passage more persuasive and clearer to understand.  根据提炼出的关键词，帮助学生分析环形图在标示主题、分类事物和提供依据方面的重要作用，为后续绘制朋友圈提供理论基础。根据关键词，分析和归纳图表在文章中的作用。4. T asks Ss to give examples of each category, for example:15: my primary school friends  50: my best friend’s sister 100: my neighborhood Ss share their opinions on the classification of friends. 结合自身情况，举例论证图表观点并发表个人看法，进一步深化学生对于图表信息的理解，培养学生逻辑思辨意识，提升观点表达能力。针对图表中的四个朋友类别，结合自身实际，分别进行举例，并发表个人看法。Post-reading25’1. Ss read the passage again and match the certain groups in Activity Four with certain circles of friends. 通过朋友类别的匹配，引导学生结合实际，深入思考文本内涵，提升获取信息、处理信息的能力。将特定的人群与朋友圈对应的类别匹配。2. T asks Ss to explain the match in Activity Four, for example: I match “not strangers” with d because I can recognize them and say “hi” when I meet them. My neighborhood is one of the examples for “not strangers”.  Ss list 1-3 example(s) for each certain group.引导学生解释匹配的原因，锻炼思辨和表达能力，并结合自身情况，列举每一个朋友类别的代表性人物，为下一环节绘制朋友圈做好准备。解释活动四中匹配的原因，并结合自己的朋友圈，找出每一个类别的代表性人物。3. Ss draw their own circles of friends. T tells Ss to use circular charts to reflect the classification and represent the data.   帮助学生了解图示在反映事物类别、呈现分类数据中的作用，并综合运用所学知识绘制朋友圈，达到学以致用的目的。了解环形图示的作用，并运用图示绘制自己的朋友圈。4. Based on Ss’ circles of friends, T asks Ss to write a passage describing one of his/ her close friends and to tell why they like each other. T shows the words and expressions for Ss to use, for example:(1) kind, quiet, humorous, active, honest, cheerful …(2) respect, avoid, details …(3) be dearest to me (4) feel valued and loved(5) have … in common, enjoy spending time together 培养学生根据绘制的朋友圈，归纳已学内容，将词句整合成语篇,进行语言表达。结合自己绘制的朋友圈，描述身边的挚友，解释彼此成为朋友的原因。Summary&Homework3’Summary: Ss feel connected with their friends after reading Circles of Friends. Ss appreciate a proverb about friendship:True friends seek to give, not to take; to help, not to be helped; to minister, not to be ministered to.
