At the end of my senior year of high school, I got a part-time job at the local coffee shop. The customers were hard to please. There was always too much sugar, too little ice, or not enough milk. It was really boring, but I made it.
One raining day, one of my regular customers came in, looking blue. I asked what the problem was, but Hank wouldn’t tell anything. He just said he felt like going to bed and staying there for a few years. I handed him a bag of his favorite doughnuts. He was surprised because he hadn’t ordered* anything.
