    “This is an animal study, but it shws that physical activity at a yung age is very imprtant — nt just fr physical develpment, but fr the whle lifelng track f cgnitive (认知的) develpment during aging,” says Martin Wjtwicz f the University f Trnt, Canada. “In humans, it may delay the appearance f Alzheimer's disease (阿尔茨海默病), pssibly t the pint f preventing it.”
    Wjtwicz's team divided 80 yung male rats int tw equal grups, and placed running wheels in the cages f ne grup fr a perid f six weeks. Arund fur mnths later — when the rats had reached middle age — the team taught all the rats t cnnect an electric shck with being in a specific bx. When placed in the bx, they frze with fear.
    Tw weeks later, the team tested the rats in three situatins: exactly the same bx in the same rm, the same bx with the rm arranged differently, and a cmpletely different bx in a different rm.
    The rats withut access t a running wheel when they were yung nw frze the same percentage f times in each f these situatins, suggesting they culdn't remember which ne was dangerus. But thse that had been able t run in their yuth frze 40 t 50 percent less in bth changed bx settings.

Ahead f them lay a thick curtain f smke acrss the track. They wuld never make it thrugh that. Steve was uneasy fr it was hard t find a safe way t escape in the heavy smke.
    Brady lifted his head and snuffed (嗅) the smke­laden wind. The next mment, the dg bunded away and disappeared dwn a sharp slpe (坡). The bys shuted at him, but he didn't cme back.
