例如:快乐(happy, delighted, pleased, joyful, enjoyable)、吃惊(surprised, shocked, amazed, astonished)等形容词或介词短语(to one's surprise, in relief, in panic)等描述人物的情绪。

Della finished her crying and dried her face. She stood by the window and looked out unhappily at a gray cat walking along a gray fence in a gray back yard.(小说《麦琪的礼物》中利用3个形容词gray,体现了Della的难受和不开心。)

With no path to follow, Jane just walked on for quite a long time. After she had climbed to a high place, she turned around, hoping_to_see_the_lake. (动作描写,说明Jane满怀期望) To her surprise, (利用介词短语体现Jane的吃惊) she saw nothing but forest and, far beyond, a snowcapped mountain top. (寓情于景,体现Jane的无望失落) She suddenly realized that she was lost.

例如:①“Absolutely” replied John, excitement shinning in his eyes.

②So angry was the bear that it roared and smacked the fence violently. (so ... that倒装句型)

③You can not imagine how frightened we were at the approach of the polar bear.

” she thought to herself                                                        .

Sam Watts was a 37yearold fisherman living and working in Canada. One day, Sam planned to head out into the Pacific at 9 am and work straight through until 5pm the next day. Joining Sam would be his crewman, 24yearold Tom Buck.

Although Sam had been warned that a storm was coming, there was little that would keep him from going. As he sailed through the waves some 120 kilometers from land, Sam let out his threekilometerlong fishing line.  The storm was gaining strength on land but had yet to reach the men far offshore. That changed around 1 am. Waves rocked the small boat, which began to turn sideways like an amusement park ride. “Get us out of here” Tom screamed to Sam. “Let's go back

With the winds and waves kicking up, the boat began to fill with water. Sam and Tom tried to pull in the fishing line together, but the high waves filled the boat with water, forcing Sam to make a hard decision. He cut the line, losing thousands of dollars' worth of equipment and fish in the sea. He then pointed the boat toward a port five hours away. Sam then called his boss, William Fox, to report his position.

With dawn coming, Sam spotted the rise of the mountains on the horizon. He was figuring out a route through the dangerous waters when suddenly the motor stopped. “I couldn't believe it” Sam said. “We were 24 kilometers off the coast, and the motor died.” High waves raised and dropped the boat, sending the men crashing into the sides. “William, William

Sam yelled into the radio. “If you're coming to get me, come now

    “We're coming” William shouted back.

    Paragraph 1

Shortly after, the radio died and the wind continued to blow straight offshore, driving the men farther out to sea.

    Paragraph 2

The next morning, Sam spotted a fishing boat in the distance.

    续写第一段:根据首句关键信息“the radio died”“driving the men farther out to sea”可知该段应叙述SamTom在发动机熄火和无线电死机的情况下,被困海上面临死亡。

    Paragraph 1

Shortly after, the radio died and the wind continued to blow straight offshore, driving the men farther out to sea. Fear seized Tom and he was trembling, for the water had not only wet his clothes but also ruined his hope of surviving. Sam murmured, “I was warned that a storm was coming. Had it not been for my stubbornness, we would not have lost our equipment and had to face such a terrible situation.” His voice gradually disappeared as waves rocked the boat, making terrifying sounds. After what seemed to be a century, a great darkness fell. Exhausted, they fell asleep.

    Paragraph 2

The next morning, Sam spotted a fishing boat in the distance. He excitedly woke Tom up. Tom rubbed his eyes and stared. Once he caught sight of the boat, he was also lit up. The chance of surviving made them regain strength and they began to shout loudly. The boat saw them and they went aboard. On the boat they met William and other crew members. Although they had lost thousands of dollars, they came to understand the value of hope.

Toby the cat was in a small cardboard box marked “free kittens” when Daisy met him and took him home. And from that moment on, he loved boxes.

He slept in hatboxes, gift boxes and takeout food boxes. He slept in Daisy’s sock drawer, if she left it open. When he was a kitten, the size of a small loaf of bread, he had slept in shoeboxes. But he grew and grew, and now he was a lot bigger than a loaf of bread. When he tried to sleep in a shoebox, his furry stomach hung over the sides.

Toby didn’t just sit in boxes, though. Sometimes he sat in flowerpots, or laundry baskets.

Daisy had a beautiful dollhouse for her birthday, a dark green three-story house with lots of furniture. Daisy loved it. So did Toby. He liked to push the furniture out of all the rooms and sit in the bedroom on the second floor.

One day Daisy came home from school, and she couldn’t find Toby. He wasn’t in the dollhouse, or her sock drawer, even though she’d forgotten to close it.

“Mom, Dad!” Daisy wailed. “Toby is gone!”

Daisy’s mom looked in the attic. There were boxes and dust bunnies, and even a mouse that had escaped Toby’s notice, but no Toby.

Daisy’s dad looked in the kitchen cabinets. There were pots and pans, and cans of soup, but no Toby.

    Suddenly—“I found him!” Daisy cried.

The big cat was inside her mom’s new glass vase, and he didn’t look happy at all. Daisy tipped the vase over gently and tried to pull him out, but Toby just howled.

“We’ll have to break the vase to get him out!” Daisy cried.

Now her mom didn’t look happy. It was a beautiful vase.

“No,” said her dad. “If we break it, the glass pieces might hurt Toby. Maybe we can put butter on the inside of the vase and slide him out, like the time you got that ring stuck on your finger.”

It was deep into the night many years ago. The rain just came pouring down outside. An elderly man and his wife entered the lobby (大厅)of a small hotel in Philadelphia, USA.

Trying to get out of the rain, the couple approached the front desk hoping to get a room to stay in for the night.

“Could you possibly give us a room here?” the husband asked.

The clerk, a friendly young man with a winning smile, looked at the couple and explained that there were three conferences in the town. "All of our rooms are taken," the clerk said. “But I can’t send a nice couple like you out into the rain at one o'clock at night. Would you perhaps be willing to sleep in my room? It's not exactly a suite, but it will be good enough to make you comfortable for the night.”

When the couple declined, the young man pressed on. "Don't worry about me. I'll make out just fine," the clerk told them. So the couple agreed.

As he paid his bill the next morning, the elderly man said to the clerk, “You are the kind of manager who should be the boss of the best hotel. Maybe someday I'll build one for you.”

The clerk looked at them and smiled. The three of them had a good laugh. As they drove away, the elderly couple agreed that the helpful clerk was indeed exceptional, as finding people who are both friendly and helpful isn't easy.

Three years passed. The clerk had almost forgotten the thing when he received a letter from the elderly man. It recalled that stormy night, when he offered his kind help to the elderly couple. In the envelope, there was a round-trip ticket to New York, and a letter asking the young man to pay them a visit. The young man decided to set out immediately.

Mr. Taylor checked again: water, food, bandage, medicines, a compass, and a map wrapped in plastic... Bingo! He put all that he prepared for the coming hiking into his backpack.

Mr. Taylor was fond of hiking, this time in particular, for it was the first time for him to hike with his two sons, Harry and Joel. Joel liked reading books about explorers and Harry joined the hiking club in his school this term. It will be an unforgettable experience, definitely, he whispered to himself unconsciously a smile spreading over his face.

Harry and Joel, however, argued for the first three miles of their hiking trip. Harry accused Joel of wearing smelly old shoes. Joel blamed Harry for using all of the bug spray(喷雾防虫剂).Harry told Joel he smelled terrible. Joel called Harry a coward(懦夫).

“Will the two of you just quiet down and enjoy our hike together?” their father said. "You’re missing all of the beautiful scenery!"

It was true. Neither Joel nor Harry had taken notice of the bear their father had spied at the start of their trip. They hadn’t looked up at the eagle he pointed out overhead. Worst of all, they hadn’t paid any attention to the turns and twists along the way while they continued their argument.

“Joel threw a stick at me!” Harry screamed. "That’s not true!” Joel shouted back.

Mr. Taylor could no longer contain his anger. "And both of you need to stop arguing!"  he erupted. As he turned to face them, his left foot caught on a root. He slipped backward and down muddy bank, falling into the river that ran alongside the path,

Harry and Joel raced to their father’s assistance. They helped him up out of the water, and then dragged his wet backpack up onto land.

Fortunately, their wet-through father found himself just slightly injured.

Jesse Dufton was born with a genetic condition, retinitis pigmentosa (色素性视网膜炎), and over the years, his eyesight gradually worsened. By the time he got to university in Bath to study Chemistry it had got to the point where he couldn’t really see images at all, only the difference between light and dark. And a few years later, he was almost 100% blind.

Jesse’s mum was a teacher and his dad ran a charity, and they’ve always encouraged and supported him in everything.

Jesse started climbing when he was young. His dad took him up his first rock route when he was two. All his early climbing was outdoor traditional climbing. His dad had been in the Mountain Rescue and was part of a mountaineering club, so they would go for weekends away climbing throughout the UK.

Jesse’s father taught him everything and guided his first route outside when he was 11. At this time he had about 30% blurry (模糊不清的) central vision. He could just see well enough to place rock equipment, but not well enough to pick out the routes from the ground.

At university he joined the Mountaineering Club and was able to climb much more frequently. They had regular trips to indoor walls and weekends away outdoors. He developed a great circle of climbing friends and went on multiple trips to Europe. On these he started Alpine climbing and ice climbing too.

But when his sight dropped to a level where he could no longer read, it started to be difficult to place equipment as he couldn’t see whether it was properly seated. He also stopped being able to pick out the holds at indoor walls.

Jesse thought he might have to give up climbing as his eyesight got worse. But his parents never give up hopes for him. They planned a climbing for the family and encouraged Jesse to have a try again. Jesse smiled because he knew his parents would always be his best guide.

“Meet one more and I’ll definitely ask a favour.” Gina thought, looking up at the street lights, everything immersed (沉浸在) in the dark night. “Alas! This unlucky stuffi” She said to herself, helpless.

Behind her came the jingling of bicycle bells. Hardly had Gina let out “ah” when a cycling young man swept past.

“Why, the cyclist was back?” Gina whispered to herself. The young man suddenly returned and was already in front of Gina before she knew it.  Gina’s heart was pounding under high tension. “What will he do on such a dark night?” “Called me just now?” The young man got off his bike. Gina shook her head repeatedly but gently. A strong sense of self-defense overcame her and she refused to say yes.

“Something wrong with your bike?”A pair of smiling eyes met hers. Gina became somewhat calm. “The front tire has gone flat.” she responded, head down, a ray of hope arising. “Well, I can’t help it with no tools.” The young man managed a smile. Gina’s heart sank again. “Do you live far?” the young man searched her face for an answer. “Me?” she asked, keeping pushing her bike forward. “Well, on the left side of the street end is a repair shop. Wish you luck!” With these words, the young man rode away. Gina almost burst into tears. “It’s almost midnight. Where can I find a repair shop? A liar.” She started to hate the young man.

Almost at the end ofthe street, Gina couldn’t help but look up. Near the sidewalk, there was really a shop with the light still on.

On a beautiful Thursday of this April, Amy and Alan Green took their daughter Abbey out for a walk in the neighborhood. On their way back, Amy picked up a kite for Abbey from the Dollar Tree, blue with rainbows—there are a lot of rainbows decorating homes around the region these days, which helps make life less dull during the coronavirus pandemic.

In the afternoon, Abbey took the kite out for its first flight. At first, the wind was perfect. It took the kite high in the sky. However, suddenly, the wind became much stronger and whipped the kite out of Abbey's hands in a moment. It sailed farther and farther and finally got stuck on the power lines next to a big tree, wrapping itself over and over again around the wires. Since the kite was too high for them to reach, the Greens could do nothing about it. Worried less about the kite than the potential danger it might present to the lines, Amy called National Grid to report the incident.

About one hour later, Mike, a worker from the power company arrived. He carefully unwound the kite line from the wires. After about 10 minutes' effort, he successfully freed it. But unfortunately, as the kite was wrapped so tightly, there was some unpreventable damage. Still, he presented it at the door to Alan Green. As he left, he noticed Abbey took the kite to the backyard. Out of curiosity, he stood there for a while to see how the girl would deal with it. Surprisingly, she dug a hole and buried the kite in a shoebox! Even though he could not see the girl's face clearly, he knew exactly how sad Abbey could be. He really felt bad for her. And it was at that moment that he decided to do something.

    注意:

    1.续写词数应为150左右;

    2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
