There are many apps out there that claim to help us organize our lives, but finding the really useful ones is not easy. Here are some great apps that get you on the way to start organizing your life.
    1. My Fitness Pal
Whether you’re trying to lose weight or simply want to keep an eye on day-to-day food, My Fitness Pal is a must-have tool. In addition to giving you the calorie count of any meal you plug in, the free app will also give you its protein, fat and carbohydrates. It also allows you to input water intake, track your daily exercise and weight, and get a clear graph to visualize progress.
    2. Microsoft To Do
People today are juggling (同时应付) more than ever before. Enter Microsoft To Do to make sure nothing slips through the cracks. Thanks to this free task management app, it’s extremely simple to create to-do lists and reminders. For example, flag an email, and it’ll then be automatically added to your to-do list. Or, highlight part of an email and the same thing will happen. No referring back and forth between multiple platforms to stay organized!
    3. LastPass
Everything seems to require a password now, and the passwords required get more complicated, thus difficult to remember. LastPass is an app that stores all your passwords in one place. Actually this storage space is itself password-protected, which means you only need to remember one master password to access LastPass. LastPass works everywhere, even across browsers and operating systems. The basic plan is free, but there are paid options that allow multiple users and more storage.

Tina Leverton was 62 when she bought her first pair of ballet shoes. She said putting her feet into the soft leather was very emotional. She said:“I’ve waited a long time for it.”
A few days later, Leverton took her first ballet class after seeing an advertisement in a newspaper. It showed older women dancing in a class near Leverton’s house. “As I came in the door, I found a big smile on my face. From the minute I started, I felt like coming home.”
Leverton had longed to dance as a child. Sadly, her parents couldn’t afford ballet classes, for they were first-generation Indian immigrants, struggling to making a living in the UK. Her father was a train driver on the underground in London and her mother held two cleaning jobs. Nonetheless, she harboured her dream of being a ballerina
At her present age, a grand plié-lowering to the floor with bent knees — seemed to be out of the question. It took her three months to master the move: leaping and landing on one foot. “I love the struggle and the challenge of learning something new. People in their 60s have a lot of self-limiting beliefs: ‘I can’t do it,’ ‘I’m not good enough.’ And maybe they’re not good enough. But it doesn’t matter,” she said.
Ballet has been transformative. At a medical appointment a few months after Leverton’s first class, a nurse measured her at 163cm, half an inch taller than she had thought. She attributes (归因) the difference to improved posture. Her muscle tone has improved and her lower back pain has stopped. Dancing has also brought new friends. She met a group of older, more independent women and worked together towards a team award with the Royal Academy of Dance. And then, of course, there is the joyful feeling. “Ballet is all the therapy (治疗) I’ll ever need,” said Leverton.
    24. How did Leverton feel after taking her dance lesson?
    A. Tired.
    B. Confused.
    C. Shocked.
    D. Thrilled.
    25. Why didn’t Leverton learn to dance she was young?
    A. Her family was badly off.
    B. She wasn’t able to leap high.
    C. Her family laughed at her dream.
    D. She had to focus on classes.
    26. What did dancing bring to Leverton?
    A. A team award.
    B. Money and fame.
    C. Friendship and joy.
    D. A medical treatment.
    27. What can we learn from Leverton’s story?
    A. Hard work pays off.
    B. Never too old to pursue dreams.
    C. Interest is the key to success.
    D. Money isn’t everything.

    C
Under normal circumstances, falling asleep during a paid tour is a waste of money or an offense to your guide at worst. But that’s not the case with this new experience coming out of Hong Kong. As its name suggests, the Sleeping Bus Tour is designed to help passengers catch some sleep, and rides are already selling out.
A 2022 survey by the Chinese University of Hong Kong’s Center of Communication and Public Opinion notes almost 70% respondents experience some form of sleep disorder. Hong Kongers have much stress from work and need a space for sleeping, but their living spaces are too small. Some may not live alone and have to share apartments with their family, which may not be a good environment for a proper rest.
After noticing passengers falling asleep on their buses, the Hong Kong tour company, Ulu Travel Agency, recently launched such an innovative way for adults to sleep: the Sleeping Bus Tour. The five-hour bus ride takes passengers on an 83-kilometer (about 51.5 miles) journey aboard a regular double decker bus. Not only is the Sleeping Bus Tour the first of its kind, it’s also the longest bus route in Hong Kong, ensuring that tired passengers have plenty of time to enjoy some sleep.
Once passengers board the bus, they are treated with a goodie bag complete with an eye mask and earplugs to help them sleep and they are allowed to bring their own blankets and slippers. The long ride includes a few stops for scenic spots and bathroom breaks. Passengers can also get off the bus early at one of several drop-off points if they’d prefer to continue their sleep at home rather than complete the entire journey. Tickets for the Sleeping Bus Tour are divided in four categories from the “Zero-decibel (分贝) Sleeping Cabin” to the “VIP Cabin.” Prices range from about $17 USD to $115 USD per person. For more information on this unique experience, head to the Ulu travel company website.
    28. What does the survey show?
    A. Hongkongers desire to live alone.
    B. Hongkongers can afford paid tours.
    C. Hongkongers are under extreme stress.
    D. Most Hongkongers have trouble sleeping.
    29. Why was the Sleeping Bus Tour launched?
    A. To improve the sleeping habits.
    B. To make more profits.
    C. To reduce the stress from extra work.
    D. To help adult passengers rest properly.
    30. What can a passenger get from the Sleeping Bus Tour?
    A. A ride in a high-tech bus.
    B. A guided sight-seeing tour.
    C. A bag with sleep aid products.
    D. A blanket and a pair of slippers.
    31. What is the purpose of the text?
    A. To introduce a bus tour.
    B. To inform readers of a new survey.
    C. To advertise a travel company.
    D. To raise concerns over sleep problems.

    D
During COVID’s first wave, the streets of New York and other major cities became empty. The sound of cars decreased, but urban citizens heard something new: an abundance of birdsong. During walks outside, they breathed cleaner air. Lockdowns had meant fewer cars on the roads, and the effects were unmissable. Levels of nitrogen dioxide — a by-product of fossil fuels burned in cars and in electricity generation — were 30 percent lower along the road from Washington D.C. to Boston in March 2020 compared with previous years. Summer coming, people sat at outdoor extensions of restaurants built in parking zones and moved around on newly added bike lanes. These incidental adaptations to the pandemic allowed citizens to experience the benefits of moving away from the “car is king” situation in a way that policies for climate-friendly equipment never could, explains Christian Brand, an environmental scientist with the Transport Studies Unit at the University of Oxford. Now, he says, “they know what’s possible.”
Some fought to keep it that way. Paris has been a leader of this conversion. The French capital already had plans to press down car use and encourage cycling before COVID appeared, but in late spring 2020 some 50 kilometers of pop-up bike lanes, called coronapistes, were added almost overnight. They are now a permanent part of Paris’s cycling network, with more in the works.
These measures, Brand says, came in no small part because of political will. Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo made climate change a focus of her reelection campaign. Besides providing subsidies (补贴) for purchasing and repairing bicycles, she emphasized the health benefits of reducing car emissions. In other cities, like New York, changes were more modest or temporary. Shutdowns may have presented the possibility of safer, healthier streets — but it was often a fleeting (飞逝的) vision.
    32. What happened during COVID’s first wave?
    A. Most people were infected with the virus.
    B. City environment became better.
    C. People drove cars instead of walking outside.
    D. People no longer went to restaurants.
    33. What does the underlined word “conversion” in Paragraph 2 mean?
    A. Condition.
    B. Competition.
    C. Change.
    D. Struggle.
    34. What did Anne Hidalgo pay special attention to?
    A. Protecting citizens’ safety.
    B. Fighting the pandemic.
    C. Measuring people’s political will.
    D. Dealing with climate issues.
    35. What can be a suitable title for this text?
    A. The Pandemic Led to Greener Cities Unexpectedly
    B. More and More Bicycles Ended “Car Is King” Time
    C. Political Leaders Took Measures to Reduce Pollution
    D. Covid-19 Brought Benefits to People’s Health

Laundry day isn’t exactly fun for most people, but it can be quite unpleasant for the Earth. Washing clothes can release microplastics that are accumulating in the world’s waterways at alarming rates. _36_. Here are some expert-backed strategies to turn laundry day greener.
    ·Choose efficient machines
The machines you use have a significant effect on the amount of energy and water you save or waste. _37_, while newer, high-efficiency washers use less water and energy with lower
temperatures and higher spin speeds. Therefore, it makes more sense economically and environmentally to upgrade machines.
    ·_38_
Avoid small loads, but don’t crowd a machine, which can make it work harder. And take a look at the amount of detergent (洗涤剂) you’re using. The extra detergent will be harder to clean out, extending washing and drying times. _39_.
    ·Read up on green products
Companies large and small have met consumer demand for products with no harsh chemicals. _40_. Don’t buy products with lots of chemicals you can’t identify or pronounce. And don’t forget the packaging. Powdered or solid products are easier to package and ship than liquids.
    A. Wash clothes by hand
    B. Rethink your laundry habits
    C. They use less energy than standard models
    D. Older appliances can waste many resources
    E. But not all products are what they claim to be
    F. Two to three tablespoons for detergents are enough
    G. Luckily it’s getting easier to clean your clothes while staying green

Language studies traditionally have paid much attention to verbal and written language. But recently they have begun to consider language without _41_, for people regard nonverbal (非言语的) _42_ as having meaning. Nonverbal acts either accompany verbal messages or are used _43_. They may support or even contradict _44_ messages. They are more likely to be used _45_ because they are habitual and routine behaviors.
In some _46_, people express more nonverbally than verbally. If you ask an obviously depressed person, “What’s wrong?”, and he answers, “Nothing. I’m fine,” you probably won’t _47_ him. When an angry person says, “Let’s _48_ the subject. I don’t want to talk about it anymore!” actually he hasn’t _49_ communicating. His withdrawal and _50_ continue to convey emotional meaning.
One study showed that 93 percent of the _51_ was communicated by the tone of the _52_ and facial expressions, while only 7 percent of the speaker’s attitude was conveyed by words. It is _53_ that we express our emotions and attitudes more nonverbally than verbally.
Nonverbal communication expresses _54_ or feeling beyond words. Universal emotions, such as happiness, fear, and sadness, are expressed in a _55_ nonverbal way throughout the world. There are, however, nonverbal differences across cultures that may be a source of _56_ for foreigners. For example, feelings of friendship _57_ everywhere but their expression _58_. It may be acceptable in some countries for men to embrace each other and for women to hold hands; in other countries these acts of _59_ may be shocking.

M: It'll take 3 hours at most and there's not a lot of uphill.
W: Great. I think I’m all set. ⑭ I’ve got my hiking shoes and something to eat.
M: Did you bring any sun protection?
W: No, I forgot. ⑮ Can I borrow a hat? I just need to keep the sun out of my eyes.
M: Sure. I’ve got sunscreen too. OK, we still have some time. So, last check. GPS checked. Mosquito spray checked. Snake spray checked. Bear Spray...
W: Bear spray? ⑯ You didn’t say anything about bears! They are so scary. I don’t like them.
M: Just in case! Don’t worry about that!
    Text 10
M: ⑲ ⑳ Where should I even begin? The restaurant claims that it’s “the best steakhouse in town”. More like “the biggest rip-off in town”! I’s got an online rating of 4.5 stars, but I wouldn’t even rate it 1! We went on a weekday evening. It wasn’t even that busy, but it took forever for us to get a table. The soup was cold, 7 and the steak was overcooked. I was wondering whether the cook knows how to cook steak? My wife ordered the fish, which she described as salty as sea water. They also spoiled our dessert, but they still expected us to pay for it! ⑱ The food size was so small that we both left feeling hungry. The service there was also terrible. I saw some waiters and waitress standing by. They were chatting instead of serving the customers. When the waitress finally arrived, she was so incompetent. She even couldn’t write down our order completely. We repeated what we want many times. After ordering, she kept us waiting for a long time. She even forgot to bring our drinks twice! I swear I’ll never come to that restaurant again.

G 37. D 38. B 39. F 40. E
    1. 由设空处前文“Washing clothes can release microplastics that are accumulating in the world’s waterways at alarming rates.(洗衣服会释放微塑料,这些微塑料正以惊人的速度积聚在世界各地的水道中。)”讲的是洗衣服会释放微塑料从而破坏环境,且后文“Here are some expert-backed strategies to turn laundry day greener.(以下是一些专家支持的策略,可以让洗衣日更环保。)”
    2. 由设空处后文“while newer, high-efficiency washers use less water and energy with lower
temperatures and higher spin speeds.(而新型高效洗衣机使用更少的水和能源,温度更低,转速更高。)”中while连接表示对比关系的并列句可知,此处应与“旧洗衣机”相关,D项“Older appliances can waste many resources(旧的设备会浪费很多资源)”符合语境,故选D。
    3. 此处为小标题,由后文“Avoid small loads, but don’t crowd a machine(避免小负荷,但不要塞满机器)”以及“take a look at the amount of detergent(看看洗涤剂的用量)”可知,本段讲的是注意洗衣服的习惯,B项“重新考虑你的洗衣习惯”符合语境,故选B。
    4. 由设空处前文“The extra detergent will be harder to clean out, extending washing and drying times.(多余的洗涤剂将更难清洗,延长洗涤和干燥的时间。)”
    5. 由设空处前文“Companies large and small have met consumer demand for products with no harsh chemicals.(大大小小的公司已经满足了消费者对无刺激性化学品产品的需求。)”以及后文“Don’t buy products with lots of chemicals you can’t identify or pronounce.(不要购买含有大量你无法识别或发音的化学物质的产品。)”

A. hearing听力;B. learning学习;C. words词汇;D. records记录。
A. skills技能;B. behaviors行为;C. tests测试;D. measures措施。
A. official官方的;B. native本土的;C. common普遍的;D. spoken口头的。
A. communication交流;B. question问题;C. competition比赛;D. description描述。由空后的“express more nonverbally than verbally”可知,此处说的是在交流的时候,故选A。
A. guess猜测;B. believe相信;C. know知道;D. help帮助。
A. debate on辩论;B. regard to关于;C. forget about忘记;D. deal with处理。由空后“I don’t want to talk about it anymore”可知,这个人不想说,那么空处应该是表达不想谈论这个话题了,故选C。
A. started开始;B. continued继续;C. required要求;D. stopped停止。
A. patience耐心;B. reflection思考;C. attention注意;D. silence沉默。
A. body机构;B. impression印象;C. message信息;D. decision决定。由空后“was communicated by the tone of the ____ and facial expressions”可知,通过语调和表情传达的是信息,故选C。

A. meaning意义;B. purpose目的;C. value价值;D. truth真相。根据第二段最后一句“”His withdrawal and _____ continue to convey emotional meaning.”

A. confusion疑惑;B. inspiration激励;C. suggestion建议;D. depression沮丧。

61. a 62. have met/have been meeting 63. what 64. at 65. to release
    66. babies 67. where 68. are raised 69. done 70. eventually
由时间状语“For more than 20 years”可知,此处用现在完成时或现在完成进行时,主语kindergartners为复数,所以此处助动词用have,故填have met/have been meeting。
此处表示在“年末”,应用at the end of the year,故此空填at。
故填where。

此处为would like to do“想要做……”
由“the food there is the most delicious in our city(那里的食物是我们城市里最好吃的)”可知,“我”带任正非去Bailu餐厅是因为那里的食物很好吃,为因果关系,并非转折关系,故将although改为because/as/since。
此处为固定用法in the meantime“与此同时”,故将a改为the。
此处为be of importance=important“重要的”的用法,故在is后加of或将importance改为important。
此处主句为“I’ll ask for his...”,故“Time permitted”为独立主格结构,且time与permit为主谓关系,故将permitted改为permitting。
