一、时间状语从句
引导词 | 用法说明 | 例句 |
when | 从句谓语可用延续性动词，也可当用短暂性动词；主从句谓语动词可同时发生、也可先后发生 | When the fire broke out, all the students were sleeping soundly When you read a book, you'd better make notes.. |
while | 从句谓语常用延续性动词或表示状态的词；主从句谓语动词一般同时发生 | They rushed in while we were discussing problems. |
as | 主从句谓语同时发生，意“一边......一边......；随着......” | They talked as they walked along the river. As you grow older, you'll know better and better about yourself. |

二、原因状语从句
引导词 | 用法说明 | 例句 |
because | 语气最强，表示已知或未知的事实，常用来回答why的提问，可以和强调词only、merely.just及否定词not连用，还可用于强调结构 | He was punished only because he broke the law. |
as | 语气最弱，较口语化，所表达的原因比较明显，或是已知的事实。从句之前不可用强调词或not，也不可用于强调结构 | As he was in a hurry, he left this bag home. |
since | since的语气也较弱，常表示对方已知的事实，相当于汉语的“既然”；和as一样,其前不可用强调词或not，也不可用于强调结构 | Since she can't answer this question, you'd better ask someone else. |
now that | “既然”，主要用于口语，表示微弱的原因，主从句的因果关系不明显 | Now that you understand, I don't need to explain again. |
in that | 由于、因为、既然 | This book is different from that book in that this one is about chemistry and that one is about history. |
三、结果状语从句
引导词 | 用法说明 | 例句 |

| so后可跟形容词、副词及由表示“多少”的many、much 、little、few等修饰的名词 | She is so beautiful that everybody likes her. He spoke so aloud that everyone in the room heard. |
such... that... | such后跟可数名词单数、可数名词复数或不可数名词 | It was such a terrible day that none of us would find an excuse for going out to play. |
so that | 结果状语从句前可用逗号与主句隔开， that有时可省略 | We arrived early in the morning, so (that) we caught the first train. |
四、让步状语从句
引导词 | 用法说明 | 例句 |
though, although | though不如although正式，两者常可互换。 | Although/Though she works very hard, she makes very low progress. |
even if, even though | 表示语气更强的让步，意为“即使;尽管”。even though 中though不可用although代替 | Even if/Even though you say so, I do not believe it. |
疑问词-ever, no matter +疑问词 | 疑问词-ever可与no matter +疑问词互换。why\whether不能与-ever连用 | Whenever I 'm unhappy, it is my friend who cheers me up. The quality will be the same, whichever of them you choose. |
as | 从句中的表语、状语或作谓语的实义动词需提前至句首。作表语的可数名词单数前若有冠词则需要省去。though引导的从句也可这样用，但although不能 | Pop star as/though she is, she still needs improve. |
五、其他状语从句
引导词 | 用法说明 | 例句 |
地点状语从句 | 主要有where、wherever 等。where指“在某个地方”，wherever指“在任何地方” | Please make a mark where you have a question. Sit wherever you like. |
目的状语从句 | 主要有in order that、so that、for fear that、 in case 等。从句中常用may、might、can、could、should等情态动词 | I'll run slowly so that you can catch up with me. |
条件状语从句 | 主要有if、as/so long as、 on condition that、unless等 | If he breaks his promise, she will never speak to him again. |
方式状语从句 | 主要有 as、as if、as though等 | She was behaving as if she hadn't grown up. |
比较状语从句 | 主要有 than、as等 | I can throw the ball farther than you can. |
六、状语从句的省略
省略的条件：当状语从句的主语和主句的主语一致时，或从句的主语是it，且从句中含有be动词时，可以省略状语从句中的主语和be动词。
e.g.:
While (I was) in Beijing, I paid a visit to the Summer Palace.
If (it is) so, you must go back and get it.
